Larian Investigating "Annoying And Uncool" Xbox Bans For Baldur's Gate 3 Explicit Video Uploads

During the January 2024 Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Theory announced that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will launch on May 21 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. It will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the best games ever made. Sure it’s had some rough patches since launch, and sure, Act 3 is a little bit wonky in terms of performance, but as a whole, Baldur’s Gate 3 is truly exceptional. Heck, it even won Game Of The Year at The Game Awards. Awesome.

It looks like the save bug that's been causing headaches for Baldur's Gate 3 players on Xbox since launch will soon be no more, with developer Larian announcing Microsoft has identified the cause and will be issuing a firmware fix next week.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was released last year and quickly became one of the most talked about games in quite some time. It’s a title that fans have gravitated towards and shared their enjoyment online. With unique characters, a thrilling storyline, and plenty of means to go back and replay the campaign, it’s not surprising to see clips and screenshots flood the web. However, there was an issue for Xbox users who found that their uploads were causing their accounts to be suspended. At first, this was thought to be an issue with some kind of automated system in place. 

Last week, Baldur's Gate 3 players on Xbox Series X-S were caught off-guard when their uploaded clips of romance scenes—which include full nudity—were causing them to get banned, something Larian's said it's currently working with Microsoft on.

As Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian works with Microsoft to investigate concerningly common account suspensions handed out to people seemingly just sharing clips of the RPG's romance scenes, Xbox support has officially advised players to disable auto-upload for gameplay clips featuring "sensitive content."

A Baldur’s Gate 3 player found themself in a bit of hot water for accidentally posting explicit content, and the developers at Larian Studios are now looking into the matter themselves. 

Although is a game centered around a party of heroes, there are plenty of players who have taken up the challenge to complete the story solo. This can be done for a variety of reasons and provides an extra level of difficulty for a playthrough. Playing solo isn't for the faint of heart, and having the right character build is even more crucial without having a party for backup.

2024 has just begun, but the video game hype train’s engines may already be heating up. It seems like Microsoft may be looking to strike first, with rumors emerging that a new Xbox Developer Direct may be coming our way in just a couple of weeks.
