DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has clarified that jumping over to the new DC Universe will be done in a non-confusing way.
On Threads, Gunn was asked why he didn’t just make a new show and if it would be confusing that Peacemaker Season 2 will be taking place in a different universe than the first season. The first season took place in the previous DC Extended Universe, while Season 2 will be part of the new DCU that begins with Superman: Legacy.
In his response, Gunn explained that he isn’t making a new Peacemaker show because the current one is his “favorite thing to do,” as well as the “biggest original Max show ever.” The filmmaker also noted that he has “a way in” for Season 2 so that it won’t be confusing for viewers.
You can see Gunn’s response in the image below:
Peacemaker Season 1 starred John Cena as Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Steve Agee as John Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith/White Dragon, and more. It’s unclear which characters will return for the next installment, but Gunn previously teased that he’s planning to establish more DC connections into the next chapter, following Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa’s surprise appearances during the Season 1 finale.
Based on the characters from DC, Peacemaker is written, directed, and created by Gunn. Executive producers are Gunn, Cena, Peter Safran, and Matt Miller. The series was produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Season 1 is now available for streaming on Max.
