Although there is no news about who will replace Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman in James Gunn's DC Universe, stunning DCU fan art envisions a Star Wars actor as the powerful Amazonian.
Gadot took the world by storm with her impeccable skills in the 2017 film Wonder Woman. Fans were excited about the casting and wanted to see more of her. However, the second film in the franchise, Wonder Woman 1984, was a critical failure. On the other hand, the DCEU suffered many setbacks, and Warner Bros. decided to revamp it completely. As a result, Gadot's chances of making a third film are bleak. In between all the fiasco, stunning fan art on social media envisioned a Star Wars actor as the DC character.
Wonder Woman Actor Says They're Not Returning For Anymore DC Movies
Fan artist 21XFOUR showcased Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman, donning a costume that honors both Gadot's cinematic portrayal and the classic comic book design. In the post, the artist clarified that the Andor actor continues to be their top pick for Wonder Woman in the DCU. The artist captured the essence of the previous depictions and also added a few unique touches to the superhero that fans have seen over the decades in comic books. He added, “After watching her outstanding performance in Andor, I am convinced that she is capable of portraying the iconic heroine, promising yet another brilliant portrayal. I hope she gets the opportunity.”
While taking a closer look at the fan art, Arjona's depiction features a Wonder Woman outfit closely resembling Gadot's, but distinct with the inclusion of white stars on the skirt. This is undoubtedly a nod to Lynda Carter's suit and the comics. Arjona is recognized for playing characters like Bix Caleen in the Disney Plus series Andor, Dorthy Gale in Emerald City, Anathema Device in Good Omens, and Amelia/Five in Netflix's 6 Underground. For the uninitiated, Arjona is not new to the superhero world and starred as Martine Bancroft in the 2022 movie Morbius. The movie bombed at the box office and also received negative reviews from the critics.
Although the fan art looks stunning, there is no official confirmation if Arjona will play Wonder Woman in the DC Universe. Before launching DC Universe, Warner Bros. was developing a third film in the Wonder Woman franchise. Patty Jenkins was set to don the director's hat while Gadot was set to reprise the role of the legendary character. However, the project was canceled soon after Gunn and Peter Safran took charge, even though Gadot suggested she would return as Wonder Woman.
Currently, James Gunn's DCU has not revealed plans for a Wonder Woman movie or any upcoming project where the chosen actor will make their debut as Diana Prince. As of now, Paradise Lost is the only Wonder
