The ongoing K-drama is creating quite a wave on the internet. Only two episodes of the series have been dropped, and fans are going gaga over the duo’s on-screen chemistry. Soo-Hyun’s charm and Ji-Won’s cold stares are like water and fire. Written by Crash Landing on You writer Park Ji-Eun and co-directed by Kim Hee Won, fans wonder if Queen of Tears is based on a webtoon.
Well, no. Queen of Tears is not based on any webtoon or web novel. The storyline of the show revolves around a couple and their life. Hong Hae-In (played by Ji-Won) is the chaebol heiress of the Queens Group. Her husband, Baek Hyun-Woo (played byKim Soo-Hyun), is the legal director of the same group. Their high-profile wedding was the talk of the town. But, they soon hit rock bottom in their marriage. The series is about how they deal with it.
Apart from Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Ji-Won, the Queen of Tears’ lead cast includes Park Sung-Hoon as Yoon Eun-Sung, an investor. The actor is popularly known for his performance in The Glory. Kwak Dong-Yeon plays Hong Seo-Cheol, Hae-In’s younger brother. His notable works are Vincenzo, Big Mouth, and more. Lee Ju-Bin portrays Hong Seo-Cheol’s wife as Cheon Da-Hye. She is known for her work in Mr. Sunshine.
The series also features a stellar ensemble cast as Queen of Tears promises an emotional rollercoaster ride.
The drama narrates the story of the married couple; Baek Hyun-Woo is a passionate and intelligent lawyer from a small village, Yongduri. On the other hand, Hong Hae-In lives in a mansion and is the third generation of the Queen’s family. She is a conglomerate baby who is exceptionally hardworking but a bit cold.
They met during their internship at Hae-In’s grandfather’s company. Their friendship blooms into romance, and they soon become a couple. Despite their vast background differences, they fall in love with each other and decide to get married. However, within three years of their marriage, Hyun-Woo regrets his decision. It seems too difficult to please his wife and even more to please her parents.
