Huawei Rumored To Be Working On A ‘Kirin PC Chip’ Whose Multi-Core Performance Is Close To Apple’s M3 Thanks To Its Taishan V130 Architecture

The ‘less than stellar’ demand for the Apple Vision Pro has caused shipment estimates to drop to 400,000 to 450,000 units for 2024, a massive drop compared to the previous 800,000 estimates. Consumers are discouraged from making the AR headset their daily driver thanks to its ludicrous starting price of $3,499, and even though Apple intends to launch the device overseas, its ‘expensive’ problem is yet to be addressed. Fortunately, the company might overcome this hurdle with the Apple Vision Pro 2, with a rumor claiming that the successor will have a starting price of $1,500 and will add two new suppliers, Samsung and SeeYa, to the list.

The M4 was officially announced during Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event, with the company praising the 10-core CPU version in droves. What thoroughly impressed us was when we reported that the latest chipset beat the M3 and M2 comprehensively while also managing a healthy lead against the M3 Pro and Snapdragon X Elite.

The M4 is expected to be announced later today during Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event, and with the company already employing the use of TSMC’s 3nm technology before, we immediately assumed that the new silicon would be fabricated on this lithography. However, one report states that unlike the M3 powering various Macs and mass produced on the ‘N3B’ architecture, Apple’s M4 will switch to the updated ‘N3E’ process, resulting in various improvements. The report also mentions that the upcoming SoC will arrive in three variants, which is nothing unusual regarding Apple Silicon releases.

Apple Inc. has been developing a homegrown chip to run artificial intelligence tools in data centers, though it's unclear if the semiconductor will ever be deployed, the Wall Street Journal reported. 

Huawei will reportedly unveil its first 5nm chipset for the Mate 70 flagship series in October later this year, but previous rumors did not divulge the official name of the silicon. Fortunately, just a short time passed, and new information came through, claiming that the SoC would be called Kirin 9100, and it obtained a score of 1.1 million in AnTuTu as part of its initial performance run.

The Galaxy S24 lineup was introduced with Samsung’s first AI-powered software suite called Galaxy AI. However, Samsung intends to raise that backup by up to 10 percent with something called ‘Battery AI.’

Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs such as the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K are rumored to feature a clock speed of up to 5.5 GHz, far less than the existing Raptor Lake CPUs which can clock up to 6.20 GHz.

The Pura 70 flagship series officially launched by Huawei also sports the company’s new Kirin 9010, a 12-core SoC that delivers a slew of improvements over its predecessor, the Kirin 9000S from last year. However, regarding lithography, the Kirin 9010 and Kirin 9000S are pretty much identical, with a teardown revealing that Huawei stuck with SMIC’s 7nm process to mass produce its latest SoC.

Huawei was reported to have attained a new milestone as its Pura 70 lineup was said to be comprised of 90 percent components sourced from Chinese partners. This approach would have meant that shortly, the company would be even less dependent on foreign suppliers that are strongly influenced by the U.S., assuming the claim turned out true. The report mentioned that the Japanese electronics consultancy firm Fomalhaut Techno Solutions analyzed the latest smartphones, but the Chief Executive has denied this information.
