Could The Next Pikmin Game Already Be In the Works?

The Pikmin franchise is easily one of the more “curious” entries in the Nintendo library. The series was brought to life thanks partly to legend Shigeru Miyamoto and had two entries on the Nintendo Gamecube. It was so popular in certain circles that its main character, Captain Olimar, was put into Super Smash Bros. It eventually got a third game on the Wii U. Heck, it even got a smaller game on the Nintendo 3DS! But despite that, the franchise has never been what you would call a “blockbuster success.” That is, not until the fourth game came out on the Switch.

"Is this real?": Armored Core 6 is the top-selling game on Steam and a breakout moment for a 26-year-old cult hit

As we said in our Armored Core 6 review, FromSoftware's latest mech beatdown is an irresistible action experience paired with one of the studio's best-ever storylines. Its overwhelmingly positive critical reception and mounting launch hype have now pushed the game to the peak of Steam's top sellers, and after loving a cult hit for 26 years, longtime Armored Core fans can hardly believe it.

How Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew made save scumming a central mechanic

"Save scumming"—the practice of quickly reloading saves after an undesired result in a video game—brings out some really weird opinions on Al Gore's internet. Yes, it's usually not how a game is "intended" to be played, but it's a feature that only exists in single-player games where players are free to dictate how they spend their time without hurting anyone else. It literally doesn't hurt anyone why do people have such weird opinions about it we don't need to have a hot take on everything oh my god.

WrestleQuest brings the spice but fumbles the execution

Full disclosure to start off with: the reason I’m not doing a formal scored review of Wrestlequest is because I did a stint of remote freelance writing for the developer, Mega Cat Studios. It wasn’t anything glamorous, but I got the opportunity during one of the lowest points in my life. COVID was in full swing, and I had lost my job. It helped me hold onto a shred of self-worth for a while. I faded off shortly after, but I enjoyed the time I spent collaborating with them.

Did Tears of the Kingdom Really Help Japan’s Economy?

There’s always been a question of how well video games affect a nation and its economy. After all, people buy video games all the time, and they can be an expensive item. So if enough of them are sold, it’ll boost the economy, right? It’s a bit more complicated than that, and that’s why you honestly don’t hear much from certain nations about how well video game sales are boosting things like their GDP. However, in Japan, a new report states that the launch of Tears of the Kingdom helped raise the nation’s GDP, which is quite something.
