Trading is made a little more confusing and challenging in due to the Profit Factor mechanic. Essentially, this in-game system governs what you can and cannot buy from the game's vendors. Naturally, players want to increase their Profit Factor to gain access to more items, and there are a few ways to do so.
The good news is that you just need to meet an item's Profit Factor level to be able to purchase it. Furthermore, while Profit Factor does function sort of like a currency, your Profit Factor points will not be deducted when you make a purchase. Having said that, you can still lose Profit Factor points in certain circumstances. However, before you worry about that, concentrate on how to increase your Profit Factor points.
In a new playthrough, you start with 10 Profit Factor, which will increase/decrease depending on your actions in the game.
There are several ways to increase Profit Factor points in. The first is simply by completing the main story missions and advancing the plot. Secondly, you can earn a significant amount of Profit Factor by selecting the dialogue option that insists on a reward.
Third, you can obtain Profit Factor through the Contracts page. This method typically involves exchanging materials and resources for Profit Factor points or other resources. However, the most effective way to increase Profit Factor is through Colony Projects.
Colony Projects are unlocked at the start of Act 2. These projects list their rewards, with Profit Factor points frequently being one of them. Some projects even have bonus Profit Factor points up for grabs. As a result, the fastest way to increase Profit Factor is by prioritizing Colony Projects when they become available in Act 2. Because the Profit Factor, and other rewards you get for completing Colony Projects, only increase the further you progress into the acts and obtain more projects for your colonies.
Unfortunately, Profit Factor can be lost just as easily as it can be gained. You can lose Profit Factor through bad dialogue options. Therefore, you'll want to tread carefully with how you speak to potential companions and romance partners. At the same time, you can lose Profit Points from recruiting too many mercenaries.
Lastly, you lose Profit Factor points from respec-ing. So, if you wish to keep your Profit Factor, best stay away from these actions in .
