The gap between Bayonetta 2 and 3 was a long one, but fans of PlatinumGames’ action franchise have nonetheless had plenty to dive into over the last year (including the spinoff Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon). But with series creator Hideki Kamiya – who directed the first game and supervised its sequels – having left PlatinumGames earlier this year, what does the future of the franchise look like?
Speaking in a recent video uploaded to his channel, in response to a question from a fan, Kamiya touched on the topic of the Bayonetta series, and said that though his vision for the 9-instalment saga is unlikely to now see the light of day, he expects the series to continue in his absence.
“I’ve talked about this in various interviews, that the Bayonetta series would consist of a total of nine episodes, and that I wanted to grow the franchise as the Bayonetta saga, but it seems like I may have to take the full saga to the grave with me,” Kamiya said. “It’s a shame. It’s not like I own the Bayonetta IP, but I suppose those who do will probably keep it going.”
Prior to his departure, last year, Kamiya spoke about his plans for the franchise, confirming that he had several sequels and spinoffs in mind that he intended to pitch to PlatinumGames. What direction the series will take in Kamiya’s absence remains to be seen, though series fans will be hoping that it’s not too long before we get some clarity on that front.

In June last year, it was confirmed that Naughty Dog president Neil Druckmann’s next directorial single player project had entered development, and there’s been plenty of speculation since then about whether that game is going to be a third Last of Us entry. The Resident Evil franchise is a massive one. We’ve seen this franchise thrive over the decades now. With the first game launching on the original PlayStation, Capcom has continued producing mainline installments and a series of spinoffs. However, it wasn’t too long ago that the development team at Capcom opted to bring remakes into the marketplace. Fans have taken up with these remakes, and it’s allowed Capcom to bring out three of them to date. But if you were uncertain if this trend would continue or not, a Capcom developer opted to reveal remakes are not going away anytime soon.
The Viewtiful Joe series used to be one of Capcom’s most promising franchises. After a big debut outing on GameCube and PS2 (the later featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series), it got a direct sequel, a multi-console Smash-like spin-off, and side story exclusive to the Nintendo DS.

But in a statement shared with Charlie Intel, Activision said it's finally going to start offering some real insights into its processes for Call of Duty matchmaking after the launch of Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 in December.
