Kamiya is currently the co-president of PlatinumGames and throughout his career, he's worked on numerous hit titles, including (but not limited to) Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta.
Kamiya didn't share what he will be doing next, but it's likely he will be starting his own studio to keep creating games. PlatinumGames is currently working on its next 'Big Hero' action project codenamed Project GG. Whether Kamiya's departure has anything to do with this upcoming new title remains to be seen.

Several things have separated Nintendo from the rest of the gaming powerhouses over the years. And one of the biggest ones is how they’ve used their experience, longevity, and clout to branch out into things beyond games in ways the other publishers can’t. Yes, everyone has had TV or movie adaptations of their properties, but if you look beyond that, Nintendo is doing quite a lot. One such “expansion” they’ve been doing is opening up new stories from which fans can buy merch. One such store, Nintendo Kyoto, is opening up next week!
Nintendo has subtly proven that it knows its audience as a new advert for Super Mario Bros. Wonder has exploded in popularity on social media due to how it addresses what Bowser is into. It could also be a very subtle reference to the Bowsette phenomenon from years back, which is something Nintendo has never properly addressed.
Eiichiro Oda was 17 when he sold his first manga one-shot, opening the door for his now 26-year run with One Piece. Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto had a similar trajectory from one-shot to serialization, while Noriaki Kubo’s one-shot work led him to eventually create the mega-successful Bleach. All three legendary creators owe some success to former Weekly Shonen Jump editor-in-chief Hisashi Sasaki, who was on constant prowl for the next big mangaka. And now, Sasaki is turning his attention to the United States to do the same for Western artists looking for their big break.
