Hideki Kamiya launches YouTube channel; cannot work in games industry for one year

If you're a fan of games such as Alan Wake, Control, and Quantum Break, you'll know that developer Remedy Entertainment has some pretty far-reaching narrative plans to tie all of its work into the same universe. Quantum Break is the exception, as its status as an Xbox exclusive and semi TV series has made it difficult for Remedy to merge it with the overall narrative, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a few easter eggs of its own.

Marvel’s Spider-Man didn’t include the option to replay the story in New Game Plus mode when it first launched in 2018. But Insomniac wasn’t lazing about in a hammock made of webbing, either. Last month we learned that Hideki Kamiya would be resigning from PlatinumGames on October 12. Well, the day has come, so what’s the mind behind games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and more to do next? Why, start a YouTube channel, of course! Kamiya went live with the appropriately named Hideki Kamiya Channel, and the first video is up in both Japanese and English.

Platinum Games co-founder Hideki Kamiya announced last month he was departing from the studio. Having founded it in 2006 in Osaka, Japan, later working on games like Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101, he left his reason for leaving up in the air. He simply said, «This came after a lot of consideration based on my own beliefs» and that he feels «this outcome is for the best.» Now, just a few weeks later, Kamiya has started a YouTube channel – aptly called «Hideki Kamiya Channel» – and in his first video, he reveals he's not retiring, as first reported by VideoGamesChronicle.
