343 Industries has revealed a new update is coming to Halo Infinite on March 19. This update will address various issues fans have experienced with Halo Infinite’s multiplayer servers and will add some new content to make the game’ssuite of modes more engaging.
A lot has changed in Halo Infinite since the game was released at the end of 2021. While fans never received the Halo Infinite campaign DLC they had hoped for, numerous multiplayer updates have been released, adding new cosmetics, maps, and modes. In addition, the game finally received the robust map editor and creation toolset, Forge. Now, the developer is gearing up for its next big update.
Ahead of March 19, 343 Industries has given fans a detailed look at the changes coming to Halo Infinite. According to the developer, this update focuses on meeting fan requests, such as making the game run better in online multiplayer matches. To meet this goal, the developer outlined what is described as a complete overhaul of the game’s networking model. The reason for this extensive change is to address complaints from the community that dated back to the game's launch and included problems with things like desync. With the release of this new networking model, 343 Industries says players should see a “better and more consistent multiplayer experience.” Along with this, Easy Anti-Cheat is being added, which should help combat cheaters in Halo Infinite.
While these improvements to network stability and anti-cheat measures could make the biggest impact, they are not the only changes coming in the March 19 update. In addition, 343 Industries revealed a substantial number of weapons in Halo Infinite are being adjusted. The guns receiving balancing changes include the M392 Bandit and Bandit EVO, Heatwave, Plasma Pistol, Stalker Rifle, VK78 Commando, and Gravity Hammer. Time will tell if adjustments like faster charge-up time on the Plasma Pistol and less bloom on the VK78 could impact Halo Infinite’s weapon meta.
Beyond weapon changes, Halo Infinite is bringing a refresh to the Squad Battle playlist. According to the developer, this refresh will introduce new Forge-made maps, with some of them based on classic maps from past Halo games. Furthermore, the popular Firefight mode in Halo Infinite is getting a Custom option, allowing players to participate in PvE battles without the original King of the Hill aspect.
While fans will have to wait and see if these and other changes make a substantial difference to the game, it looks like players have plenty to look forward to in Halo Infinite. At the very least, these changes seem to suggest that the developers are trying to implement fixes based on the community's feedback.
