2024 continues to be a successful year for Sony where its PC releases are concerned. Ghost of Tsushima got its long-awaited port on the platform yesterday, and instantly upon release, it seems to have attracted players in impressive numbers.
Hades 2 Has Already Hit Over 100,000 Concurrent Players

Hades 2 was shadow-dropped a couple of days ago, and despite launching out of nowhere two years after being announced, it has already more than doubled its predecessor's concurrent player record.
As reported by Eurogamer, its current peak is 103,567 players. As of writing--on a Wednesday morning before half the world has even woken up--59,714 people are battling through the underworld. It's safe to say Supergiants' first-ever sequel is off to a good start.
The first Hades hit its all-time concurrent player peak of 37,749 four years ago, but the release of Hades 2 has given it a huge boost. Its peak in the past 24 hours is 36,043 players.
The game hasn't even fully launched yet. It's currently in early access, and we've seen the enormous push a 1.0 release can bring. Only last year, Baldur's Gate 3 set the world on fire and then kicked it off a cliff for good measure, winning countless accolades and the top prize of Game of the Year. Supergiant expects to be in early access "at least through the end of 2024", so we might see the full launch as soon as next year.
If you have a sinking feeling of FOMO, you can pick up Hades 2 on Steam for £24.99 right now (it even works on Steam Deck). While you don't need to have played or finished the first game to understand Melinoe's story, the sequel does explain what happened to the previous protagonist Zagreus at the end of each run.
In Hades 2, you play as Zagreus' sister, Melinoe, as she quests to rescue the pair's kidnapped father.
While the game isn't finished yet (the most egotistical character, who says you're free to ogle at him, is placeholder art right now), it already has more content than the first game.
But more is on the way, as Supergiant plans to launch the first major update "later this year". However, if you want to try the first Hades before the full launch of Hades 2, you can grab it right now on sale for £7.13.
Hades 2 is the sequel to Supergiant Games' smash-hit roguelike dungeon crawler. This time you'll play as Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and Zagreus' sister, as she takes on the forces of the Titan of Time.
