GTA 6's reveal trailer was meant to go up today, but it was leaked. So, Rockstar pushed it out early, which is great as now we can see what it looks like without a big crypto ad plastered on top.
This first trailer confirms a few rumours, such as the Bonnie & Clyde-style protagonists, but it also reveals that yes, we're going back to Vice City. Just with fewer Hawaiian shirts this time.
The first-ever Grand Theft Auto was set in Vice City. It reappeared in the titular Vice City in 2002, but its last appearance, not counting remasters, was in 2007's Vice City Stories.
At the 41-second mark, giant letters making up the word "VICE" fill the screen, confirming without a shadow of a doubt that Rockstar is dipping its toes back into Miami waters much as GTA 4 returned to Liberty City and GTA 5 to San Andreas.
Last year, fans realised that the state of Florida doesn't exist according to a map found in GTA 5. It was discovered inside a barbershop, tucked away and seemingly unimportant, but many were confused as the new era of games had referenced Vice City before. Since it's based on Miami, surely Florida must also exist?
Many simply assumed that it was an "oversight" or a mistake, joking that the entire state had sunk underwater, but no, Rockstar was playing the long game. GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, explaining how Vice City is back despite Florida's strange absence (even if a crocodile does waltz into a store, which is very, very Florida).
While the Everglade State has been scrubbed off the map in its entirety, Rockstar describes the new region as "the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet."
Vice City was leaked and rumoured countless times before the trailer finally confirmed it, but an unusual place it cropped up was on 50 Cent's Instagram.
He shared a photo of Vice City's logo and said, "I will explain this later", but quickly deleted the post. Many assumed he was making a cameo like Dr Dre did in GTA Online, but it turned out to be completely unrelated to Grand Theft Auto.
In the end, 50 Cent was hyping up his new TV show. But in a roundabout way, he predicted Vice City's return.

returns the crime saga from Rockstar Games to the setting of Vice City and Leonida at large, and it's possible to pick up on a number of returning locations from the franchise's original venture into the setting. The fictionalized version of Miami made its first appearance in the original and took center stage in, while looks like it might also step outside of Vice City's borders to explore more of the pseudo-Florida known as Leonida.
The arrival of the GTA 6 trailer means that we've had a pretty good look at the world of Vice City. But for one dedicated community, the trailer was just the next step in a complex GTA 6 mapping project - and now the real work can begin.
Rockstar pulled the virtual trigger, finally giving us a glimpse of GTA VI.
Here's how GTA 6's Vice City stacks up against the 2002 version, as well as the real-life locations that inspired it.
Grand Theft Auto VI was incredibly hyped going into December. We knew this would be the month Rockstar Games would unveil their first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto game. While we finally have the trailer readily available, plenty of reaction videos and content are emerging online to help indicate what we might see in this installment. However, one YouTube channel, Lavkia, compared Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto VI. While it might not be a direct comparison to the map, it will at least give you some insight into what areas of the map might have been expanded.
Quite a few people listened to the song «Love Is A Long Road» after the GTA 6 trailer came out.
There was little doubt that the GTA VI trailer would do well in terms of viewership. Still, the debut video of Rockstar's massively anticipated new game surpassed even the rosiest expectations.
GTA 6 trailer 1 dropped on Monday and confirmed that Rockstar is taking us back to Vice City, the fictional Miami-inspired setting of 2002's GTA: Vice City. Naturally, as more than 20 years have passed, the vibrant city has seen quite the glow-up, and so the good folks at the Future Games Show have remade the new trailer using familiar scenes from the OG Vice City, showing exactly how far we've come from the days of polygonal palm trees and cityscapes.

The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI is here, finally taking the covers off of Rockstar Games' ambitious open world title. After years of leaks, rumours and speculation, we now finally have concrete official details about GTA 6, its world, characters, and tone. The trailer itself was published hastily ahead of schedule after it was leaked on X on Tuesday. Instead of waiting and putting out the reveal Wednesday at 9am ET (7:30pm IST) — as Rockstar initially planned, the studio released the trailer early Wednesday morning. “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube,” the publisher said in its post on X.
