GTA 6: Rockstar Games poised to revolutionise online gaming with official role-playing servers

Some eagle-eyed fans think they saw Tommy Vercetti’s island mansion in the Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal trailer. Even before Rockstar officially gave players a look at Grand Theft Auto 6, there were many rumors that the next entry in the infamous open-world crime series would return to Vice City, which serves as the GTA universe’s version of Miami. Grand Theft Auto 6 will take players to Leonida, the Florida-inspired state that Vice City is located in, and sure enough, an alternate universe version of the troubled town could be seen in the game’s trailer.

Netflix‘s mobile download numbers have reportedly risen drastically thanks to the addition of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition to the service.

A recent report reveals that Netflix Games saw major growth throughout the 2023 fiscal year, bolstered by the high-profile launch of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on the streaming service. The popular streaming platform has heavily pushed its gaming side since first launching Netflix Games in 2021, adding high-profile franchises like Dead Cells and Tomb Raider to the service. Last month would see one of the platform's biggest launches yet, with the GTA Trilogy coming to Netflix on mobile devices. Now, Netflix is reporting massive success from the game's launch.

As Grand Theft Auto 6's official reveal trailer moves up the charts of the most viewed game trailers on YouTube, an unsuspecting mobile hit still claims the number one spot. Having dropped early last month, the long awaited first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 lit up the internet and finally gave fans of the franchise a glimpse at the breathtaking world of modern Vice City and its surrounding areas.

Take-Two Interactive has filed an opposition to Remedy Entertainment’s newest logo, claiming the symbol infringes on Rockstar Games’ logo despite the two having little in common besides the letter “R” representing a video game publisher. First reported by RemedyFirst, the trademark dispute was filed against two versions of the Remedy logo (one with the company’s name, one without) in September with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office.

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, is going after Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy. Take-Two is trying to stop Remedy from using its new logo, seeming to argue that it could be confused with Rockstar's own branding.

Just over two years ago, Netflix announced it would enter a new business: gaming. Amid a mobile gaming market dominated by free-to-play and ad-supported business models, Netflix’s plan was to make its games free without ads or in-app purchases. The gambit may now be starting to pay off. In 2023, Netflix Games downloads increased by over 180% year-over-year, according to estimates from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower. In total, the games have been downloaded 81.2 million times worldwide across the App Store and Google Play in 2023, with the fourth quarter accounting for around 53% of those downloads.
