Treasure is a big part of 's shrunken survival adventure, but the Melted Moat Chest in particular can unlock one of the best tools in your arsenal. The numerous insects you'll fight throughout your adventure can be dangerous enemies without the right weapon. Finding the key to this Chest will give you a recipe for a strong weapon, but only if you explore a hazardous area.
The Melted Moat Key can be found in the Sandbox area in , a biome high above the grass that you'll have to reach by climbing. This area is hazardous, with hostile Antlions roaming the sands and the Sizzle debuff slowing down your character's movement. Staying in this place will cause the Sizzle effect to eventually kill you, so you have to prepare for this effect ahead of time.
You can avoid the Sizzle effect while exploring the Sandbox by visiting the biome only during sunset or at night when the Sun isn't causing the area to heat up.
The Melted Moat Key can be found in the shadow of the Yellow Shovel toward the upper right corner of the Sandbox region. When the in-game clock shows 15:30, the shadow cast by the Shovel shows a hole near its top that pinpoints the spot you need to start digging for the Key. After four dig attempts with at least a Tier 2 Shovel in this spot, you will obtain the Key that can unlock the Melted Moat Chest.
Those who craft a Black Ant Shovel, an upgrade to the usual Acorn Shovel, from 4 Black Ant Parts will have the perfect tool to dig up the Melted Moat Key in the Sandbox.
Once you have the Key, head over to the Sandbox Castle to the southwest of the biome, an area that can be one of the best places for a base in . The castle itself is surrounded by water in a moat where the Melted Moat Chest can be found after some brief swimming. During brighter hours, this water can protect you from the Sizzle effect and even prevent Antlion enemies from following you.
The Melted Moat Chest contains a Water Logged Recipe and Milk Molar item once opened, revealing a set of tools needed to construct the Salt Morning Star weapon. This is one of the strongest weapons you can make, giving you a great item to defeat Antlions in still pursuing you in the Sandbox. The Morning Star is classified as a Tier 3 tool for defending you or your friends against hostile enemies.
The recipe will help you figure out what items are needed to build the Salt Morning Star, including 5 Gum Nuggets, 2 Salt Globs, and 10 Tough Gunk. Making this weapon after you unlock the Melted Moat Chest in will let you challenge some of the toughest enemies in the game, from the terrifying Wolf Spider to even the Orchid Mantis.
