Grand Theft Auto 6 Reveal Trailer Has Surpassed 150 Million Views

Grand Theft Auto 6's first trailer has gone down as one of the best in recent memory, racking up millions of views in the first week, becoming one of the fastest-viewed YouTube videos of all time. With a trailer that iconic, you know full well that it's going to be recreated in some capacity, and GTA fans are passing the time until GTA 6's release by trying to recreate the trailer in as many other Rockstar games as physically possible.

It’s been three weeks and change since Rockstar Games played Santa Claus by giving everyone their first look at Grand Theft Auto 6 ahead of its vague 2025 release date. In that time, thirsty fans have watched the record-setting trailer more than 160 million times, which was apparently more than enough research to recreate the video in just about every game, style, and format under the sun.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to look considerably better than the previous entry in the series, and the jump in visual quality is going to be massive, judging from a new video put together by a fan.

The trailer is packed with plenty of small details, but there's one thing in particular that helps explain the series as a whole. as a franchise has always been somewhat unlike anything else out there, despite the slew of imitators that it's inspired. With a long history of pushing the boundaries of open-world gameplay and public outcry alike, developer Rockstar Games knows how to spin a series that has no trouble attracting attention at every turn.

While it was initially set to release yesterday, the developers were forced to drop it a day early. That was all due to some leaks of the trailer getting out ahead of time. Regardless, the first trailer was quickly viewed over a hundred million times, and it’s still getting new reactions and breakdowns from fans. However, one particular reaction video might offer a bit more insight into what we could see in this game. 

Developer Rockstar Games released the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI earlier this week and in 24 hours, it surpassed 100 million views while also nabbing the record for the most views in 24 hours. YouTuber Mr. Beast previously held that record before the GTA VI trailer. At the time of this writing, the trailer has 104 million views on YouTube. 

Here’s a bit of an understatement- there’s a fair bit of excitement surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6. The long-awaited open world behemoth was officially unveiled by Rockstar earlier this week (a day ahead of time, owing to unfortunate leaks), and within the first day, the reveal trailer had surpassed 96 million views on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel. And, unsurprisingly, that momentum has continued.

And just a few days ago, Rockstar Games set the GTA 6 trailer release date as December 5, 6:00 AM PT. To the company's dismay, the trailer was leaked online before Rockstar could release it. Now, we have a proper first glimpse into the world of GTA 6 (officially called GTA VI), and it confirms what leaks have suggested before.

In just 22 hours, the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has racked up 85 million views, breaking a MrBeast video’s record for most YouTube views in 24 hours. That ranking excludes music videos, but the hype around this long-awaited game could smash past those records too — right now, the most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours is the music video for K-Pop sensation BTS’ song “Butter,” which was viewed 108 million times in that timespan.
