PhonePe launched its SmartSpeakers for merchants last year and since then it is utilised by thousands of hop owners in India on a daily basis. The SmartSpeaker is an accessory that makes a verbal announcement whenever an amount is added to the UPI account. This is helpful as merchants do not have to open the app repeatedly during busy hours just to know whether money was sent or not. But now, PhonePe is making this feature more fun to use by adding a cool quality-of-life feature. At present, it has a default neutral voice that can be customized for different regional languages. However, this will be upgraded with a new celebrity voice feature using which users will be able to listen to famed actor Amitabh Bachchan's voice on PhonePe SmartSpeakers while receiving payments. Google Wants You to Have an Easier Time Reading Articles as the AI Can Now Show You Key Points from Lengthy Content

Google has finally given us more information about its generative AI technology called Search Generative Experience (SGE) and how it can actually generate key points from lengthy articles. This will help the reader engage more with content that is considered long-form. The SGE feature is finally available as an early experiment in the Google app on Android and iOS and can be accessed through Search Labs. The feature is also going to come to Chrome in the coming weeks, so if you are primarily a web user, you will not be left behind.
Now, for those who don't know, Google's Search Generative Experience is one of the search features that users can actually go ahead and test out. All you have to do is sign up for Google Search Labs, and you are good to go. The feature was announced earlier this year at the I/O 2023 conference, and the feature uses generative AI to show search results in a format that is easier to read for everyone. Sadly, Search Labs is currently only available in the U.S. and is only available in English.
Honestly, I am really glad that SGE is getting this feature. There are a lot of reasons why people would want to have their articles summarized, especially when they are on the phone. The new feature announced by Google is going to make it really easy for you to read the articles that you are interested in. Take a review, for example. Sometimes, you don't want to go through pages upon pages of hardware or software reviews to figure out whether you should be spending your money. Or some other news reports that take a lot longer to read. Having AI give you a summary of it is an excellent way of going forward, and I am glad the company is taking this step. However, the important part here is that this new feature will not summarize any content that is behind a paywall for obvious reasons.
Another thing to note here is once the article is summarized, Google will also include all the links that will help you navigate to where the information was taken from. This is going to help the user know whether the information AI sourced is correct or not. In addition to summarizing the article, the SGE will also show you a list of questions that the article answers. You can visit the "Explore on page" for those answers and get all the information.
The latest update pushed by Google for the SGE is also great for coders. For instance, coders can see segments of code in the overview that will be color-coded along with syntax highlighting. The purpose of this feature is to help both new and veteran developers to have an easier time understanding elements. You can even hover your cursor over specific words in AI-generated responses so you can have more information.
