While nothing is certain, this report has it that Apple is looking to replace the Dynamic Island display cutout with under-display sensors for both the camera and Face ID in future models.

We are a little less than a year away from looking at the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Flip 6, but it appears that Samsung already has plans in place for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 because, based on the information that we have received, the company is currently working on PHOLED (Phosphorescent OLED), this is the type of material that Samsung is currently only using for green and red pixels, but by 2025, the company plans on introducing the same with blue pixels.
At the time of writing, Samsung is currently using blue fluorescent materials instead of phosphorescent material. However, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 coming in 2025, that might change as the company is working on a complete PHOLED solution.
The initial report suggested that Samsung Display would be using blue phosphorescent material for the foldable phones that were supposed to be released next year. However, there have been some issues in the process, and therefore, we will most likely see the material debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in 2025.
But what exactly is the benefit of making such progress when the users will not be able to see it? Well, for starters, Samsung is currently using blue fluorescent material on its panels that has an internal luminous efficiency of just 25%. However, the red and green PHOLED offer 100% efficiency. By replacing the blue fluorescent with blue phosphorescent, the South Korean giant will be able to deliver better battery life and reduced power consumption on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
Sadly, there are hiccups with the lifespan of the material being lower than the fluorescent material. However, knowing Samsung Display and its crowning achievements, it is safe to say that we are going to see some promising results in the future, and you never know just what other display technology we get to witness in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
