Epic presses the rewind button.

Epic Games has announced that the next major update for the popular battle royale game Fortnite will take players «back to Chapter 1,» which seems to confirm the rumor that the game's original map will make its return. The update lands on November 3, Epic said, tagging its social media post with "#FortniteOG," to presumably reference the early days of the game.
Epic's tweet also mentions that players can «sprint (or mantle, your choice) back to Chapter 1,» and this wording suggests the rumors that sprinting and mantling would be removed are not true. Before this, Epic boss Mark Rein posted a not-so-cryptic message on social media, stating, «My word for the next season of Fortnite is: rewind.»

It's been heavily rumored for some time that the new update will bring players back to a new version of the battle royale map from Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5.
Epic Games and Fortnite have been in the news a lot lately after Epic laid off around 900 staff and increased prices for V-Bucks.
Epic CEO and founder Tim Sweeney said Epic was «spending way more money than we earn» and that he now understands it was «unrealistic» to think Epic could «power through» without layoffs.
«While Fortnite is starting to grow again, the growth is driven primarily by creator content with significant revenue sharing, and this is a lower margin business than we had when Fortnite Battle Royale took off and began funding our expansion,» he added. «Success with the creator ecosystem is a great achievement, but it means a major structural change to our economics.»
Epic also published the recently released horror game Alan Wake II, which is out today and is getting rave reviews, including a 10/10 from GameSpot.

The Epic Games Store will officially turn 5 years old in early December, and while some of the fiery debate surrounding the storefront has died down, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a success yet. Epic and Google are currently engaged in a legal showdown over app store fees, which has provided some interesting new testimony regarding the Epic Games Store.
