Following Epic's recent teases and the announcement of the Big Bang event, a reliable Fortnite insider has claimed that Chapter 5 will be the biggest update that the game "has ever had and will ever have".
After the wet fart of a season that was the heist-themed Chapter 4, Season 4, Fortnite has spent the last month making a huge comeback, breaking its all-time player record twice in the span of a few days thanks to the hugely popular Fortnite: OG mini-season. It seems that blast from the past was just the tip of the iceberg, however, as Epic is teasing that next month's Big Bang event is going to be huge for the game.
Don't let Fortnite's recent string of successes distract you too much from the fact that Epic Games gutted nearly 900 employees just a few months ago, which is around 16 percent of its entire workforce.
Following datamines and leaks that claimed Eminem was coming to Fortnite alongside a new concert in the near future, Epic Games confirmed the rumours to be true and announced the "Big Bang" event. Although Epic is being coy about what the live "experience" will actually entail, the news post for it claims that "something big’s about to happen" and that the event "marks a new beginning for Fortnite".
Epic's teases about the Big Bang event so far have already made it clear that it's going to be a big deal for Fortnite, but it seems that what it's leading into might somehow be even bigger. Following the confirmation of the event, reliable Fortnite insider RealShiina (who shares Fortnite news and leaks under the Twitter account Shiinabr) highlighted the section of the news event claiming that a "new beginning for Fortnite" is coming, and said, "Chapter 5 will be the biggest new chapter Fortnite has ever had and will ever have".
When asked what they mean by that, RealShiina said that the Chapter is going to be the "biggest evolution" for Fortnite. That still doesn't make it very clear what exactly is going to change about Fortnite for its next big update, but some fans are speculating that there will be less of a focus on the Battle Royale mode going forward.
We're going to have to wait until Chapter 5 drops next month to see for ourselves how big the update is going to be for Fortnite, but it's worth noting that leaks previously claimed that an open-world RPG mode was in development for the game. We've not heard about that new mode for quite some time, but it does seem to fit the bill for a big "evolution".
