Bethesda has discussed what’s coming to Fallout 76 in 2024, and confirmed the multiplier-focused post-apocalyptic role-playing game now has more than 17 million players.
Fallout 76 suffered a disastrous launch back in November 2018. It was labelled broken and unplayable by many, but it was also criticised for offering a lifeless, Appalachia-set open-world to explore, devoid of many of the features fans loved from Bethesda’s single-player Fallout games.
Since then, Bethesda has worked to turn the game around, with 2020’s Wastelanders update, which finally added fully voiced NPCs, seen as a crucial milestone. Now, five years after launch, Fallout 76 is considered a success and its player base happy, as it currently has a ‘mostly positive’ user review rating on Steam.
Following the release of the Atlantic City - Boardwalk Paradise update, Bethesda art director Jon Rush penned a blog post detailing the Fallout 76 roadmap, and within it said “over 17 million players have experienced new Fallout tales and characters with Wastelanders.”
So, what’s in store for 2024? Atlantic City - America’s Playground, due out in the spring, includes an additional mission in which players confront the legendary Jersey Devil, along with new story driven quests, more areas to explore and rewards.
Then, later in 2024, Bethesda will expand the game’s map southward deep into the wooded heartland of Shenandoah. “This uncharted, once-tranquil expanse in the heart of Virginia will bring a new questline, factions and rewards,” Rush said. The concept art, below, teases what's to come.
2024 looks set to be a big year for Fallout, with the Amazon Prime Fallout TV series kicking off April 12, and the hotly anticipated Fallout 4 next-gen update due out. Bethesda chief Todd Howard, fresh from the release of Starfield, has suggested Fallout 5 will follow The Elder Scrolls 6, which itself is years out.

Baldur's Gate 3 is the big, world-changing isometric party-based RPG that everyone's still talking about, but I've always felt that Pillars of Eternity is the game that really first started turning that engine over. The OG Infinity Engine vibes were strong, but it stood well on its own merits too: We called it «a deep, rich, and wonderfully written RPG that lives up to the towering legacy of the games that inspired it» in our 92% review.

India's ISRO launched its first satellite, XPoSat, on Monday to study black holes as it seeks to deepen its space exploration efforts ahead of an ambitious crewed mission next year. The spacecraft, named X-ray Polarimeter Satellite, was propelled into an orbit of 350 kilometers from an island near India's main spaceport of Sriharikota, off the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, according to S. Fallout 76 has seen one of the more remarkable turnarounds we’ve seen for a game in some time, and after a rough launch (to say the least), with consistent support, content additions, and updates, the online RPG has amassed a dedicated and engaged fanbase- one that keeps growing.
Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory is a CRPG set in an Orwellian nightmare, a sci-fi society overrun by bureaucracy. At one point while playing it I tried to get a broken door fixed so I could get through, and after bouncing back and forth between various repair departments I eventually learned there was a final form I needed to fill out, and that form happened to be on the other side of the broken door. When Paranoia was mysteriously removed from sale weeks after its release with no explanation I tried to find out why, a quest that was just as frustrating as my attempt to get past that broken door.
