Firesprite’s long-rumoured dark horror PS5 exclusive could launch in 2025, according to the resume of a former employee. The information on concept artist Agnes Hvalstad’s Art Station page has since changed, but the Internet never sleeps, and ResetEra captured screenshots of the information prior to its edits.
The game is billed as a “TBA AAA project” and its year was previously set as 2025 before being adjusted to 2023. It’s unclear whether Hvalstad made a mistake and intended to list the period she worked on the game, or if it actually has a target 2025 release date. Her LinkedIn profile leaves little up for debate, however: “Concept artist on a AAA quality, dark horror project.”
Sony’s yet to officially acknowledge the release, so we’re obviously searching for scraps here. But Firesprite has expanded to become one of the platform holder’s biggest first-party developers, and therefore expectations will be high for whatever this turns out to be. It’s also rumoured to be working on a Twisted Metal reboot, although with the television show already out, it feels like the window to reveal that has somewhat passed.

Honestly a horror game from Sony sounds like fun. Returnal and Bloodborne may not be traditional horror but they are quite scary because they are not.
@Powerplay94 Returnal didn't really start creeping me out until the second act, the shift of perspective during the haunted house sequences, the depths of the abyssal scar and genuinely having no clue what lurked in the deep was quite anxiety inducing.
Still my favourite PS5 game.
@QuietintheCorner My first scare was probably the second biome. There is this hallucination you unlock which really creeped me out. But yeah Act 2 is where the game truly cements itself as the best PS5 game I've played. Not for everyone but for that small audience it is nearly perfect.
@QuietintheCorner @Powerplay94 I don't get easily scared but those first person house, hospital parts got to me and that was within the first 5 hours. Returnal either scared me or wowed me throughout and I think that's why it resonates with me so much. I feel some emotion every minute of gameplay through atmosphere alone. I always have to give that game its props
Last «horror» game from Sony I've played was Until Dawn.
Makes me wonder if this new game is a Siren reboot.
Reason i sold Returnal. I dont do horror what so ever. Im an absolute big girls blouse when it comes to anything remotely tense. As soon as i found out it had horror elements later in the game it got sold. Sounds like i missed out on a great game and my wife
