Uniqlo is on a roll right now. Only a week after it revealed an official Tears of the Kingdom range coming to its Japanese storefront - and almost certainly the rest of the world in the near future - it has announced a Final Fantasy collection will be joining it. Uniqlo's first Final Fantasy designs feature elements and characters from Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 14, and Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster.
The Final Fantasy range will be available to buy in late June and include seven designs - three from Pixel Remaster, and two each from Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 16. Like the Tears of the Kingdom range, the first place the Final Fantasy t-shirts appeared was Uniqlo's Japanese site. However, even though the collection hasn't yet found its way onto the US version of the site, the designs can all be found on Uniqlo's UK site, suggesting if there is going to be a wait between a Japanese release date and the rest of the world, it won't be a long one. If and when they do make it to the US, they will likely be $24.90 each.
Uniqlo and Square Enix are likely hopeful Final Fantasy fans will be able to get their hands on these t-shirts in time for Dawntrail. The Final Fantasy 14 expansion is set to release on July 2, 2024, which means, if all goes to plan, fans of the game will be able to play through it while wearing some new Final Fantasy 14 t-shirts. One of the two designs has a pocket with a chocobo and a moogle falling in, and the other features the game's Warrior of Light, so perfect for fans of Final Fantasy 14 and the Pixel Remaster what with the character first appearing in Final Fantasy 5.
Among the Pixel Remaster designs coming to Uniqlo is a pale pink t-shirt with a detailed Moogle design surrounded by pixelated Moogles, and other designs that combine the OG pixel versions of characters coupled with what they might look like in a modern-day remake. Rounding out the collection are the Final Fantasy 16 designs. The latest installment in the Final Fantasy series, not including Rebirth, Uniqlo's t-shirts include one with a tiny Torgal howling at the moon, and another with all of the game's Eikons on the back.
2024 has already been quite the year for video game fans who want to rep what they play out in the real world. As well as its Final Fantasy and Tears of the Kingdom collections, Uniqlo also revived its retired Metal Gear line. Insert Coin has also been hard at work, teaming up with CD Projekt Red for its very first Cyberpunk 2077 collection and also a range dedicated to The Witcher.

There's been a lot of discussion surrounding the commercial success of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The PS5 exclusive launched on the 29th February, but despite garnering near universal acclaim from critics, questions were quickly raised regarding sales numbers, with Square Enix yet to provide any official statistics (which usually isn't a great sign).
Circana’s March 2024 data on video game spending in the United States is available, with Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Helldivers 2 scoring big. In the midst of all this is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the long-awaited second part in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, which is the fourth best-selling title in the US year to date.
The former NPD Group (now named “Circana”) has released its full North American sales data for March, and it seems like it was an up-and-down month for the industry. Players spent $4.9 billion on games, additional content, and hardware in March, up 4 percent year-on-year. This increase came from mobile and software spending, as hardware sales were down 31 percent year-on-year with PS5 #1 in terms of unit and dollar sales, Switch #2 in terms of unit sales, and Xbox Series X/S #2 in terms of dollar sales.
Square Enix has revised its approach to PC and console game development, and absorbed ¥22.1 billion (approx $140.9 million) in what it calls “content abandonment losses.”
The Tribeca Festival returns this June, and it will once again feature official games selections and even a game-focused panel. This year, the selections are all promising indie games, including a successor to 2021’s excellent Before Your Eyes. The show will also feature a talk on the making of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Today the Tribeca Festival, which recognizes achievement across various entertainment mediums, announced their games lineup for 2024.
The next project from the Final Fantasy XVI developer, Square Enix's CBU 3, will likely be more lighthearted, as Yoshi-P seems to be done with dark fantasy for the time being.
Square Enix has formally unveiled a moogle-themed board game based off of characters from the acclaimed PS2 title Final Fantasy 12. This certainly isn't thebombastic Final Fantasy 12 remake announcement some fans may have been hoping for. However, it's at least a nice reminder that Square Enix hasn't entirely forgotten about the world of Ivalice and the games that take place within it.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth could have rolled credits much sooner in the story if the game's writer stuck to his original idea.
Japanese clothing store Uniqlo has announced a new range of officially licensed t-shirts based on some of the more currently popular Final Fantasy titles.
