Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software and hardware sales data for Japan for the week of October 2, 2023 to October 8, 2023.
Detective Pikachu Returns for Switch was the highest selling new game release last week, opening at 85,639 retail copies sold. It was followed by Takara Tomy’s The Game of Life for Nintendo Switch, which sold 30,267 units.
Also new last week, Assassin’s Creed Mirage sold 20,407 units on PlayStation 5 and 8,029 units on PlayStation 4 for an opening week total of 28,436 retail copies sold. And Sword Art Online: Last Recollection sold 11,740 units on PlayStation 5 and 8,554 units on PlayStation 4 for an opening week total of 20,294 retail copies sold.
On the hardware side, the Switch family sold 110,241 units, the PlayStation 5 family sold 33,754 units, the PlayStation 4 family sold 1,020 units, and the Xbox Series family sold 995 units.
