Fallout Showrunners On A Game Crossover: "That's Todd's Call"

Fallout showrunners, Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are open to a crossover with the games. This opens the door for anything introduced in the show to be used in future Fallout entries, as the showrunners are up for sharing ideas.

Speaking with me ahead of Fallout's premiere this Thursday, Wagner says that it will be up to series director Todd Howard to implement anything the show introduces to the lore into the games. However, Wagner also gives the idea his blessing, saying that he and Robertson-Dworet would be "honoured and stoked" to see their creations make it into the source material.

"That's Todd's call. That will happen over there," says Wagner, on the topic of the show's influence on the games. "We would be honoured and stoked if they pulled stuff from our show and put it in the games because we borrowed so much from Bethesda's catalogue of great ideas."

If we get to have our own influence on their work, hot dog, that would be cool.

We already know that some aspects of the show had to be cut because Bethesda told the writers they would be used in Fallout 5. With this in mind, we can expect more collaborations between the two mediums, as the show's crew were given details on the next game to avoid unintentionally spoiling it before it's even revealed.

It's easy to see how this was possible, as it sounds like everyone involved with the show's production was eager to craft a story that didn't feel out of place in the Fallout universe. Fallout's other showrunner, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, said that they decided on three main characters to best reflect the various factions in the games, with the trio introducing us to the vault dwellers through Lucy, the Brotherhood of Steel with Maximus, and ghouls thanks to a character simply known as The Ghoul.

Of course, there were some things that the show just had to borrow from the games, like power armour. We spoke to actor Aaron Moten about how it felt to step into the armour while filming, and unsurprisingly, he says it was "exhausting" to move around in.

We also spoke with production designer Howard Cummings about how the suit was put together. He explained that there were multiple different builds depending on how much flexibility the actor or stunt performer needed, with Moten's just covering his upper half.
