Fallout Series Had Nearly 5 Million Players in a Single Day

Fans tickled by Prime Video's series are in luck because the subscription service is offering the first chapter in the modern saga for all its users to play at no extra charge. Following the show's successful premiere on the streaming platform, the entire post-apocalyptic RPG franchise has been reinvigorated as veterans return to their favorite moments and newcomers seek out what inspired the story of Lucy MacLean. While the first two games may not be included in the most recent Amazon Prime Gaming drop, the third installment is actually the perfect place to start.

Whether exploring the irradiated monuments of Washington D.C. in Fallout 3 or gambling away your last couple of Caps on The Strip in Fallout: New Vegas, the series' North American setting is an essential piece of the puzzle. It’s also the top-seller on Steam right now. And these stats don’t capture the whole picture, as Manor Lords isn’t a Steam exclusive – it’s also available via Game Pass on PC and Xbox Series X/S. It's fair to say that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's post-launch plans probably aren't going the way that Rocksteady and Warner Bros. wanted them to. Its player count has been dropping ever since launch, despite a small bump from the release of the Joker in Season 1, and it's now dropped so low though that more players are actually playing a game that's been pronounced dead for months.

The Fallout craze continues to pay dividends for Bethesda. Earlier this week, the studio announced that Fallout 76 surpassed one million daily players across all platforms for the first time since its launch in late 2018. The multiplayer game is one of the top sellers on Steam (and elsewhere), largely thanks to various promotions and offers that have, however, since ended. On Valve's PC platform, the game reached 73.3K concurrent players last Sunday.

Without saying when — but presumably on the weekend — the franchise's official Twitter profile shared that more than one million people played Fallout 76 within a single 24-hour period. Then, when taking the entire RPG series into account, there were nearly five million users on that same day.
