Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV show has supercharged excitement in the Fallout IP, leading to a significant surge in player counts across a variety of Fallout titles on Steam, but also for Fallout London, a fan-created mod for Fallout 4 that may as well be an entirely new entry in the series due to the breadth and scope of the project.
Fallout London Will Launch "As Soon As Humanly Possible"

Fallout London's developer, Team FOLON, was supposed to be celebrating the long-anticipated launch of its fan game today. However, with Fallout 4's current-gen update just days away from going live, that isn't possible, and the game has been pushed back until fixes are made.
Now, project lead Dean Carter has shed some more light on what's going on behind the scenes. In an announcement in the Fallout London Discord server, Carter says that he and the team will get the game out "as soon as humanly possible".
"The currently unforeseen technical challenges and logistical issues due to spawn from the [Fallout 4] update will be necessitating more time to address them," says Carter. "A LOT of these fixes will be coming from 3rd parties so are at the whim of their timely releases. Once we have those fixes, we can then work on fixing the issues the update has caused and get the mod into your hands as soon as humanly possible."
Carter also reaffirms that the team doesn't want to release the current Fallout London build for those who are happy to turn off updates for Fallout 4. "It's important to understand that this mod is for everyone, not just a select few," Carter adds. "The majority of gamers will benefit from the update, and cutting off a significant portion of our player base isn't a viable option."
However, Carter doesn't rule this out entirely, adding: "If it poses a significant risk to our creation, we may be forced to release what we have as is against our plans."
Team FOLON has also had to rule out a console release - the game is just too big.
Fallout London is a total conversion mod for Fallout 4, meaning it uses the base game to build an entirely new game. This includes a new map, quests, characters, and story. However, because it's built on top of Fallout 4, it won't be compatible with the current-gen update that the game is set to receive on April 26. As soon as the update goes live, most mods and modding tools will be incompatible, requiring updates from their original creators. Fallout London's team will have to wait until other modders have fixed their own tools and creations before they can do anything else.
With this in mind, there's no new release date for Fallout London. The team cannot predict when they will be able to get to work on the mod again, nor when their own work will be completed. However, today's reassurance indicates that Carter still wants it out as soon as possible, especially since it was completely ready to go before Bethesda revealed that the Fallout 4 update would drop this week.
