Fallout 4's Current-Gen Update Rolls Out On PS Plus

Fallout 4's current-gen update should now be available to anyone who plays the game via PlayStation Plus, regardless of their subscription tier. This comes after the update's initial launch last week, which was inaccessible to those who got the game through the now-defunct PS Plus Collection.
Given the lack of clarification from both Bethesda and Sony, many believed this was done on purpose, and those who claimed Fallout 4 when it was free on PS Plus would be ineligible for the update. However, Bethesda has now confirmed this isn't the case, telling PlayStation users that the issue preventing the rollout has been "successfully resolved".
It's quite a surprise to see that this was always the intention. While Bethesda previously said it was looking into the issue, some had assumed it would never be fixed, since other games released via PS Plus have been ineligible for PS5 updates in the past. Instead, users have then been forced to buy the game outright, despite already paying to access it through their PS Plus subscriptions.
A further complicating factor here was that Fallout 4 was distributed via the PS Plus Collection, which doesn't exist anymore. This selection of 20 games was open to those with both PS Plus and a PS5, and unlike the free monthly games, could be added to the player's library at any time. It was removed as a benefit of PS Plus last year, but anyone who had already claimed the games got to keep them, as long as they kept up their payments. Now, these users can also enjoy the PS5 release of Fallout 4.
Of course, this isn't much use to the players who gave up on waiting and bought the game. In the replies, some are trying to seek refunds, but they're unlikely to be granted, especially if they already started playing the game. At the very least, they now own Fallout 4 themselves and will continue to be able to play the game if they stop paying for PS Plus.
