Codemasters is making some big changes to physics in F1 24 in what they are calling the series' most comprehensive update yet.
It all goes under the name of dynamic handling, and it was developed in collaboration with Max Verstappen, who has been the F1 champion for three consecutive years. First and foremost, there is an all-new suspension physics system thanks to the new kinematics models representative of both F1 and F2 cars. The models simulate dynamic changes in camber angle and toe angle, include accurate steering geometry and Ackerman effect and revised spring and damper forces.

The tire model has also been improved: the contact patch with the road behaves more realistically in tandem with the suspension changes, while tire heat and wear are also more authentic, and wet weather behavior has been enhanced.
Aerodynamic simulation has been refined, too. The chassis rake has a more prominent impact on downforce and drag, making ride height adjustment a key component to finding the ultimate setup. Computational fluid dynamics and a virtual wind tunnel were used to deliver more realistic slipstream and DRS effects. The improved aerodynamics also more effectively showcases the individual strengths and weaknesses of the teams in F1 24 at various circuits.
Just like in real life, the player now has more control over the mode and performance of their engine thanks to the upgraded power unit. The adjustable engine braking gives more impact of lift and coast on energy harvesting behavior, and there's also increased accuracy of MGU-K and MGU-H energy harvest and consumption with greater driver influence. The enhanced throttle mapping reduces energy waste and presents the player with deeper levels of energy control. All of the ERS (Energy Recovery System) modes are available to F1 24 players in all sessions, and a new differential model enables finer tuning to suit dynamic conditions.
Furthermore, Codemasters aims to provide more player agency in this year's installment with the addition of new car setup options, which give players more control of their driving style, strategy, and performance.

As popular as big multiplayer games are, there’s nothing quite like the solo escapism and wish fulfilment of playing single-player, is there? And when it comes to sports games, that wish fulfilment comes in the form of stepping into the shoes of a professional athlete and rising to glory, whether it’s becoming the world number 1 tennis player, leading an underdog football team to win the Premier League, or bringing your favourite F1 team both kinds of championship glory. F1 24 is bringing a bunch of great new options to the career mode, which will add just a few more variable and fun twists in your quest to be the best.
