Samsung is rumored to be laser-focused on continuing a dual-chipset approach with the Galaxy S25 launch next year by introducing both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Exynos 2500 variants in several markets. According to the latest rumor, the company has supposedly commenced testing of its upcoming SoC, and according to the latest development, it is faster than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in both the CPU and GPU categories. However, that leaves us with more questions than answers, which we will discuss here.
On X, PandaFlash has posted a vague rumor, claiming that the Exynos 2500 performs exceptionally when taking on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in both CPU and GPU tests, but as far as its NPU (Neural Processing Unit) goes, those results appear to be in the dark. While anyone’s first impression of hearing about Samsung’s incredible progress of the Exynos 2500 would be a positive one, history has served us a harsh lesson, and we are obligated to learn more about its capabilities while discussing the trade-offs that come with reaching a certain level of performance. One of the most obvious trade-offs is power consumption.
As usual, the user did not provide details on this front, which suggests that Samsung’s internal testing of Exynos 2500 may have only let the SoC run at its maximum possible wattage, which would no doubt result in improved single-core and multi-core performance, along with increased GPU gains compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Also, given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s alleged single-core and multi-core results are out in the open, where it apparently obtained a 46 percent uplift over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and was practically competing with Apple’s M3 chipsets, the Exynos 2500 was not compared with Qualcomm’s upcoming SoC.
The obvious reaction would be that the Exynos 2500 is considerably slower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and Samsung may tweak it further so that it could deliver performance and efficiency close to the latter. Either way, we could see the Korean giant employing advanced technology such as FOWLP or ‘Fan out Wafer Level Packaging’ to improve its heat resistance and, by extension, its efficiency. Earlier rumors have mentioned that the Exynos 2500 will sport a 10-core CPU cluster like the Exynos 2400, and perhaps support for LPDDR5T RAM might give it an edge in future tests.
All in all, we recommend that our readers treat this rumor with a pinch of salt simply because it is too early to rely on this information, especially since

Apple’s iPhone SE 4 OLED orders were previously said to be fought over by suppliers Samsung and BOE. Given that this is the company’s low-cost offering slated to launch sometime in 2025, procuring cheaper displays would be Apple’s top priority since this component is largely dependent on how expensive a smartphone gets. On this occasion, a new report claims that BOE has apparently won the skirmish against Samsung on the pricing front and will likely be the exclusive panel supplier for the iPhone SE 4.
