EVE Online is getting a board game, bringing New Eden's internet spaceships to the tabletop.
CCP Games made the announcement this morning (via Polygon), and is partnering with miniature publisher Titan Forge to bring its internet spaceships to the tabletop. Called EVE Online: The Board Game, it'll be hitting Kickstarter this fall to raise funds for the project.
According to the project's listing on Kickstarter, EVE Online: The Board Game will allow players to "[u]se diplomacy, deception, and direct warfare to engage your rivals in a grand game of cosmic chess."
So you know, regular EVE gameplay. Though I do wonder how they are going to fit mining, shipping, logistics, space trucking, pirating, exploration, banking, and overall space edge lord into the gameplay.
CCP Games' brand director Grant Tasker stated in this morning's release (via the Polygon report) that EVE Online is well suited to bring it's iconic legacy in the MMO space to the board game medium.
With its player-driven gameplay and complex virtual economy, EVE Online lends itself organically to a compelling board game experience. As we celebrate two decades of EVE Online, Titan Forge understands New Eden’s enduring legacy and is equipped to bring our iconic spaceship MMO to a different medium while maintaining its signature elements."
There isn't a whole lot else to know about the board game just yet, but with EVE Fanfest 2023 coming next month in Reykjavik, Iceland, those interested can catch the first live demonstration of the board game in action. Personally, I can't wait to see some more of the miniatures themselves, as EVE Online's ships can be stunning, especially a few of my favorites like the Vargur, Machariel and Astero.

Superhero MMO DC Universe Online’s lifespan has been so long that it originally released as a PS3 console exclusive under the Sony Online Entertainment umbrella. If you're anything like me, you've spent approximately 52,000 hours staring at the world map of Skyrim, gaily fast travelling between cities and landmarks. Well guess what? Now you can stare at it for another reason-defying amount of time, but on your actual, physical tabletop, because PC Gamer is teaming up with Modiphius to give away a Skyrim: The Adventure Game set, the board game version of the game you can play on your PC, your console, and your voice assistant.
It’s been confirmed that the superhero MMO DC Universe Online will soon be arriving on PS5 and Xbox Series X, bringing the long-running title to current-gen consoles at long last.

Rockfish Games’ Everspace 2 is finally available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, it was also released for PC (and PC Game Pass) several months before becoming playable for console subscribers as well. The space combat title was in early access for years, adding new content and systems over time, including new story sections which weren’t originally planned.
When creating a board game based on a video game, the absolute worst thing you can do, in my opinion, is to directly port it to the tabletop. The resulting analog adaptations that I’ve played over the years have all been invariably tedious and dull. If I wanted a direct dose of the source material, I’d rather just turn on my PC or game console and plop down on the couch. So it was with great trepidation that I sat down to a demo of Metal Gear Solid: The Board Game at this year’s Gen Con. Turns out my long-held opinion on video game adaptations doesn’t apply here. CMON’s latest effort is both very close to the original and extremely well done.
The Sky Team board game arrived at this year’s Gen Con going full throttle. Polygon had a chance to sit in the cockpit of the latest release from the talented crew at Le Scorpion Masqué, the same team responsible for hits such as the wonderful party game Decrypto, the upcoming Dead Cells board game, and the 2022 Gen Con hit Turing Machine. Sky Team is yet another unusual design full of personality, as two players crew the flight deck of a commercial airliner seeking to safely land at their destination airport. It’s quirky, full of tension and clever mechanisms, and it’s also surprisingly good at capturing several aspects of real-world flight simulation.
