Dungeons & Dragons Characters Join Dragonheir: Silent Gods

Yakuza and the Like a Dragon series has, for the most part, always been incredibly welcoming and inclusive, featuring loads of side quests with positive views on a range of sexualities and backgrounds. Longtime series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu is considered a staunch ally, always keen to lift up the marginalized and downtrodden, but we've yet to get any LGBTQ+ representation of note when it comes to protagonists.

An indie tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) from veteran designer Matt Colville has raised $4.6 million on BackerKit, and intends to offer an experience that's «unburdened» by the legacy of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). The crowdfunding effort substantially exceeded its initial goal of $800,000.

The official website for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, RGG Studio’s next mainline entry for the franchise, has been updated with new details. It discusses the Dungeons that players will venture to, both in Hawaii and Yokohama, which serve as “the strongholds of various ruffians” (translation via DeepL).

The company, which is also behind the Transformers franchise (toys and other media),  announced this decision yesterday, on December 11. 

Hasbro is laying off 1,100 employees, according to anSEC filing. The company behind franchises like Dungeons & Dragons and Transformers, Hasbro already laid off 800 employees in January. While some employees will find out about the fate of their jobs on Tuesday, others will be cut in the coming year. By 2025, Hasbro told shareholders, the company hopes to save about $350 million to $400 million in costs.
