Dragon's Dogma 2 has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the less than two weeks it has spent on the market, Capcom today confirmed. Bundling in all the versions of the original game, this means the series has in total sold over 10 million units. The Japanese firm shared the news today in a press release where it committed to more «additions and changes» for the PS5 sequel.

It's a stellar day for a JRPG sales update: Dragon's Dogma 2 has soared past 2.5 million copies sold, while the stellar Unicorn Overlord has sold 500,000 copies worldwide since launch.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s post-launch addition of microtransactions vexed a fair few people, but in spite of backlash from the community, the open world action RPG has got off to an impressive start. In addition to widespread acclaim, it has also seen sales in impressive numbers right out the gate.

It sounds like Dragon's Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin — both released on Friday of last week — have struggled to make an immediate impact in the UK. While we don't have the full sales charts just yet, GamesIndustry.biz's ever-knowledgeable Christopher Dring has outlined the relative success of the new releases, and it's fair to say that neither game has done well. At least, not at retail.

Just one weekend removed from the release of Dragon's Dogma 2, Capcom has confirmed that it's working on a slew of improvements, which will be coming to the game via free updates. A lot of this stuff seems to be in direct response to player feedback, and includes overall adjustments, additional options, and performance enhancements.

Three relatively big games all released on the same day last week: Dragon's Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin, and Princess Peach: Showtime!. But as we all know, Japan absolutely adores its Nintendo Switch exclusives — and so perhaps it's no huge surprise to see the latter title top the latest charts.

When you boot up Dragon’s Dogma 2, you get all the standard boilerplate warnings, a Capcom logo, and then the game’s title screen. Except it’s technically not the game’s name, because it’s missing a 2.

Several major games released at the same time last week, and though most have made it into the latest weekly Japanese sales charts released by Famitsu, the one that’s topped the charts might not be the one many would have expected. Princess Peach: Showtime! sits on top of the charts, beating out both Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin.
