Doctor Strange star Benedict Wong has finally broken the silence on his MCU return and given a promising update on his character’s fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Wong made his Marvel debut in the 2016 film Doctor Strange and played a sorcerer. Over the years, the actor has gone on to make appearances in several superhero titles and become a fan favorite. Wong made his last appearance in the Disney+ series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ in 2022 and since then, there have been several rumors swirling around Wong’s inclusion in the MCU. Finally, the actor has seemingly confirmed that fans should be ready for his return to the franchise.
Speaking in an interview with Comicbook.com, Wong made it clear that he would be back at the sorcerer in MCU’s upcoming projects. Although he didn’t give details about the project or his role, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star revealed that something special is coming the audience’s way. Wong noted,
I can't really say. It's been a while. Something's looming. Something's looming.
His comments come almost two months after a report indicated that Sorcerer Supreme Wong would be getting his Disney+ series. The report indicated that Marvel Studios is in the process of developing Strange Academy, inspired by the fictional school of the same name featured in Marvel Comics. As per The Cosmic Circus, the series would “be one of the more important tie-in stories leading into The Kang Dynasty, as it will also tie into multiple aspects of the MCU aside from the supernatural.” Given his role in training America Chavez at the conclusion of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it's possible that Wong's speculated MCU project could become a reality.
There’s no doubt that Wong is an exceptional actor and his character is an important part of the MCU. In the upcoming phase of the MCU, superheroes will definitely need the help of the Sorcerer Supreme to fight against Kang the Conqueror. The aforementioned villain has several variants and it would be wise for Marvel heroes to have someone as formidable as Wong on their side. The character is expected to return in Doctor Strange 3, but the finale of Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange trilogy hasn't been confirmed yet. Although fans believe that the character is expected to return in Doctor Strange 3, the finale of Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange trilogy hasn't been confirmed yet. However, Marvel would likely bring the hero back for one final outing before trying to reorganize the entire storyline. In the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, fans could see Wong helping Strange in the multiversal war and becoming an important member of the team. Fans are eager to see Wong appear more frequently in the upcoming phase,
