Dead by Daylight Teases Dungeons & Dragons Killer

Enormous asymmetrical horror outing Dead by Daylight is showing no signs of slowing, with its eighth anniversary ushering in some enormous collaborations. Dungeons & Dragons is the latest intellectual property to invade the series, with an upcoming expansion adding iconic villain Vecna as a new Killer and a Bard as a Survivor. Konami’s Castlevania will also infiltrate the series later in the year, although details are being kept under wraps for now.

When the revised 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons becomes available on Sept. 17, the world will finally get a taste of the seminal role-playing game’s upgraded mechanics. But D&D’s most dedicated fans will likely have a head start. The Player’s Handbook (2024), including a version with a special alternate art cover, hits brick-and-mortar shelves first on Sept. 3.

Remember when Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive announced a new PvE multiplayer game with Midwinter Entertainment? It’s codenamedProject T and is a third-person co-op shooter currently in early development. A GTA 5 player has found a new side mission in the single-player mode, a discovery that has remained hidden for years. While GTA 5's open world was initially considered Rockstar Games' most immersive experience, it was later surpassed by Red Dead Redemption 2. With the anticipated release of GTA 6, which has a trailer available below, Red Dead Redemption 2 may soon see its position overtaken.

Dead by Daylight is a game absolutely packed with murderous monsters, both original and licensed from other franchises. The next crossover is a little bit outside of the usual horror wheelhouse — Dead by Daylight is producing a chapter themed around the wildly popular tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons. Vecna, known in-game as The Lich, will be the game’s next Killer. Vecna is joined by a pair of Elven bards, one male and one female, who will serve as the new Survivors.

Behaviour Interactive have revealed a game they teased quite a while ago, Project T. Well, bits of a game, it is nowhere near finished but they wanted to show fans how things were progressing and get their input.

Behaviour Interactive’s 8th anniversary stream saw them make a slew of big announcements for their main game and franchise, Dead by Daylight. There’s the reveal of the next big event, themed after Dungeons & Dragons, a new 2v8 game mode, and a tease of what’s coming down the pipe with a Castlevania collaboration!

In its eighth anniversary broadcast for Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive announced two of six upcoming Chapters for the asymmetrical horror. The first is a collaboration with Dungeons and Dragons, going live on June 3rd and adding The Lich (based on the villainous Vecna) as a new Killer. Check out the trailer below.

Dead by Daylight: Dungeons & Dragons features one of the most iconic characters in the D&D mythos – the archlich Vecna – as well as the original Bard Survivor Aestri Yazar (and her playable counterpart, Baermar Uraz). Also coming is the Forgotten Ruins Map, a dark fantasy-inspired Realm befitting of The Whispered One’s presence.

Back in December of last year we revealed The Casting of Frank Stone at the Game Awards, and we couldn’t have been happier with the reception.

Dead by Daylight fans can check out the Dungeons and Dragons chapter starting today, but Behaviour Interactive teased another high-profile crossover during an anniversary showcase on Tuesday. A Castlevania chapter is on the way to DbD. There aren't any details yet about what that will include, but you just might get to play as Alucard or Simon Belmont in the fog. Behaviour plans to divulge more info about the Castlevania tie-up, which will arrive later this year, in August.

Behaviour Interactive revealed some of the game-changing updates that are coming to Dead by Daylight this year. That includes a new 2v8 mode and crossovers with two iconic franchises.
