As Dead by Daylightramps up celebrations for its ninth anniversary, the official Twitter account teases the next DLC chapter of the game. On May 14, the developers of the hit asymmetrical horror game plan to reveal more about the upcoming Dead by Daylight DLC in a livestream unveiling the roadmap for the upcoming content cycle.
Weeks of speculation and leaks have left fans wondering about who exactly will feature in Dead by Daylight’s 32nd chapter. In recent months, horror enthusiasts have been treated to a cacophony of movie icons making their way into The Fog, including Alien’s vent-crawling vermin, The Xenomorph, as well as Child’s Play’s Chucky.
In a post to the Dead by Daylight Twitter account, Behaviour Interactive has hinted at the new horrors in store for the game. The video shows a darkened dungeon cell, behind which a Beholder bursts from the shadows and screeches. The caption tells us to “Listen closely to the voice in the darkness…” and sure enough, a cruel laugh echoes through the halls as the Dungeons & Dragons title card envelops the screen.
This video seemingly confirms the long-held suspicions among fans that a classic Dungeons & Dragons character will be making an appearance in Dead by Daylight – Vecna. Instead of the character made iconic by the fourth season of Stranger Things, the Vecna that is set to appear in Dead by Daylight is true to the Litch King of Dungeons & Dragons source material, and is likely designed to tie into D&D’s 50th anniversary adventure, Vecna: Eve of Ruin.
This may come as a small disappointment to fans who were expecting to see a follow-up to Dead by Daylight’s Stranger Things Chapter, which triumphantly returned to the game in November after a 3-year absence due to licensing issues.
Following a leak late last year that alleged that both Chucky and Alan Wake would appear in The Fog, the same poster correctly predicted that, specifically, D&D’s Vecna would be the next chapter, then followed by Dracula from Castlevania. With two of their leaks being right on the money, it’s very likely that come May 14 we’ll learn more about the new Killer in the Entities’ Realm, Vecna.
Fans don’t have long to wait to find out about the validity of these claims, as Behaviour Interactive’s upcoming anniversary livestream will spill all the juicy details on Chapter 32 – Dungeons & Dragons.
