Landfall’s found footage co-op horror game has had massive success in its first few weeks, and has now reached yet another milestone.
After releasing for free on April Fool’s Day, word of mouth and viral videos of the game saw it downloaded a whopping 6.6 million times. It then became a paid game on April 2, 2024, and sold an impressive 700,000 copies in less than a fortnight.
Now it’s passed the 1 million copies sold mark, adding another accolade to its growing set that includes having more than 204,000 concurrent users playing it on launch day despite releasing out of nowhere.
Thedeveloper has teased updates for humdrum things such as bug fixes, but also stated there will be ”some fun updates” as well. Once the game’s teething problems are settled, it’s likely there will be some new Old World locations on the way for players to explore and document.
In Content Warning, every run goes on for three days. The more scary stuff you film, the more you go viral. The ad revenue from your SpookTube videos enables you to upgrade your gear to film better videos and survive more easily in the Old World. If your team accumulates enough views in three days—you get to keep going with your SpookTube Career.
Squad up, customize your face with the ASCII face customizer, buy some gear, and use the diving bell to go down to the Old World! Down there, you’ll encounter scary physics-animated monsters, cursed relics, and other artifacts.
