Cloud Imperium reportedly hit with layoffs

Something Wicked Games has reportedly cut an unknown number of staff.

Despite the initial excitement surrounding the remastered versions of the classic games, fans are expressing their frustration over the games' surprisingly large file size. The has already caused a great deal of controversy amongst its player base due to its disastrous launch which exposed fans to bugs, server issues, and a multiplayer mode that was effectively unplayable for most of the community. The game's situation is only getting worse as fans are now questioning why it needs to take up so much storage space.

Respawn Entertainment—the studio behind games like Titanfall 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Apex Legends—has been hit by layoffs as part of larger cuts taking place throughout EA. As spotted by VGC, various current and now-former members of the Respawn team, including Apex Legends level designer Aaron Stump, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to talk about the layoffs.

EA has reportedly laid off some employees from the Apex Legends community team working at Respawn Entertainment. This move related to the Apex Legends team comes in the wake of a layoff announcement made by the California-based publisher last month.

The video game industry continues to burn, and it’s sad to see. Recently, Electronic Arts laid off 600+ employees from their company, and it seems that now the developer of Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainmant has been the victim as well of the layoffs, and is suffering due to it. See, Electronic Arts is the parent site to Respawn Entertainment, and recently the publisher shared they had a plan to restructure everything which has laid to the layoffs. About 5% has been let go from the teams at the company.
