Certain Affinity is a lead co-development partner on the recently announced science-fiction action adventure RPG EXODUS from Archetype Entertainment, the developer announced.
Certain Affinity has been working closely with Archetype Entertainment since 2022, partnering with Archetype Entertainment’s executive creative director and co-founder James Ohlen (formerly lead designer of Baldur’s Gate I and II, as well as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), and alongside the studio’s vice president, executive producer, and co-founder Chad Robertson (formerly the studio director for EA BioWare).
“This game is introducing an extremely innovative and expansive world,” said Ohlen in a press release. “We are creating a new universe that we hope will be the beginning of a decades-long narrative-driven adventure for gamers. I’ve known Max for a long time and was thrilled to partner with Certain Affinity on a project. With his support and the addition of his outstanding team we’re excited to bring this new AAA Sci-fi universe to life.”
Robertson added, “The value of our experienced teams joining forces adds a clear benefit to the project and ensures that in today’s competitive video game marketplace, EXODUS will be an [intellectual property] that stands apart in terms of quality, deep engagement, and value for gamers. We have enjoyed working with Certain Affinity and look forward to the unique opportunities that come from a deep partnership like this with such a veteran team.”
EXODUS is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. A release date has yet to be announced.

Some World of Warcraft fans have pointed out that the Hero Talent trees coming in The War Within don’t give every playable race equal treatment. There are many reasons why people like the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise from Insomniac Games. It’s true that thanks to the PS4 and PS5, these games look gorgeous, and they’re only going to get better as they make more titles in the line. Plus, the gameplay is fluid and dynamic, making you feel like the Spider-Men while also having different attacks and abilities for both to use, making each unique. But the real reason that most praise the titles is the stories and portrayals of the characters. Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and others shine within the game in the best ways, and gamers gravitated to that.

Supermassive Games, the studio best known for making choice-filled horror games that are borderline interactive movies, announced that it is planning to lay off employees as job losses continue to devastate the gaming industry.
Amidst widespread layoffs, rising development costs, increasingly protracted development cycles, and more, the games industry is looking more destabilized than it has in a long time, but some studios seem to be immune to that. One prominent example is Dark Souls and Elden Ring developer FromSoftware, a studio that has not only not had to resort to laying off staff, but is actually growing increasingly larger, and continues to put out universally acclaimed, commercially successful titles at a rate that has, frankly, been startling.

But it turns out that many players didn’t want the co-op part, as the game has plenty to offer already on its own. In response, the development team has announced that it’s bringing an “Offline Mode” up on its list of priorities.
