The second expansion for Final Fantasy 16, titled The Rising Tide, now has an official launch date. It arrives on the 18th April, and costs $19.99 if you're buying it by itself. The Expansion Pass, priced at $24.99, gets you this second DLC and the previously released Echoes of the Fallen.

Larian Studios appears ready to leave the Baldur's Gate franchise behind having released the landmark third instalment, with founder Swen Vicke saying the developer has no plans for any Baldur's Gate 3 DLC and won't be producing a fourth game. His comments were made during a GDC panel earlier today, where it was said the team plans to move away from Dungeons & Dragons entirely for something new, which has been in development at least as of January 2024.

Striking Distance Studios, the developer behind 2022's The Callisto Protocol, has revealed what is internally called Project Birdeye, a top-down spin-off set in the same universe. A small team will continue to develop the fast-paced roguelike while the rest of the studio works on another full-scale game, and we got a brief trailer showing off some stylised action.

Memories Off is a long-running series of romantic novels which first debuted on the PlayStation in 1999. Despite spawning multiple sequels, and being localised into languages like Korean and Traditional Chinese, it’s never actually launched in Western territories – well, until now. PQube is on the case, with SINce Memories: Off the Starry Sky targeting a 2024 launch on the PS4.

According to all rumours and reports, Sony is working on its own reconstruction technology similar to DLSS, or Deep Learning Super Sampling. A series constant, Final Fantasy's Moogle is a familiar sight to many, and along with the Chocobo, serves as a mascot of sorts for the franchise. But the busted-looking Moogle we got in the recently released Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been rejected by a particular segment of the community, who are convinced the gritty redesign looks more like Matthew McConaughey playing a drug mule named Miguel than a fantastical portmanteau of mole and bat.

PlayStation Japan, as you’ll already know, loves a good montage trailer. And this latest clip – which has a bit of a road trip vibe to it – is a bit of a banger, spotlighting upcoming console exclusives like Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade. As has been speculated, Falcom is indeed working on a new Tokyo Xanadu title. The game doesn't have a name yet, or confirmed platforms, or a release window, but at least we know it's coming!

We've said it once and we'll say it again: direct sequels are a harder sell than most people realise. The latest Japanese sales numbers are in, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the big talking point. Unsurprisingly, the RPG has immediately topped the charts with 263,000 copies sold — but that total, which may seem fairly impressive at first, puts the game well behind the opening figures of its predecessor, Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

The Hunter x Hunter video game project that was announced earlier in the year is now officially coming to PS5 — and we've also got confirmation that it's a 2D fighting game, and not some kind of arena brawler, as was speculated by some fans.
