Beating Baldur’s Gate 3 without leveling up your character sounds like an impossible feat, but one content creator has proven it’s more than possible.
“In this video, I’m going to attempt to beat Baldur’s Gate 3 on the hardest difficulty without leveling up,” Youtuber Fracture explains. “This presents a lot of different challenges. I barely have enough health to survive a slip and fall in grease. My spell casting can, at best, be described as a two pump chump. And it’ll just keep getting worse and worse as I progress through the game.”
Fracture chose to play as the wizard class for the handy spells, with a Githyanki character who generally has an easier time talking their way out of tough situations since, you know, fighting is a struggle when you’re a lowly Level One. To make matters worse, Fracture is also playing on the Tactician difficulty - which was previously the game’s “hardest” before developer Larian introduced Honour mode. So, maybe we’ll get a redux one day.
“In general, I’m not planning on trying to just skip past all the content to technically beat the game,” the content creator explains. “I want to actually play and beat the game,” even if that includes using “ridiculous or cheesy strategies.”
Over the playthrough’s almost two-hour runtime, Fracture meticulously sidesteps many combat encounters and does everything humanly possible to make his character as persuasive as possible. And the result is a video that’s stuffed with hilarious missteps and moments that make you think ‘Oh, I didn’t know you could do that!’
Fracture is no stranger to tough, self-imposed challenges, though. We previously covered his (successful) attempt at beating the game without resting even once, a playthrough that showcased some equally creative problem-solving. But what could possibly one-up this?
Baldur’s Gate 3’s creative problem-solving is no accident, since the game was actually inspired by Arkane and Hitman .

The PlayStation 5 Slim seems to be selling well compared to the original model, but it seems like it is still not enough to outperform the PlayStation 4, according to a new report.
A Baldur’s Gate 3 writer has reflected on Larian Studios’ decision to include a tribute in the game to a fan’s father who has Alzheimers, and said they’re “really happy we got to honour the mighty mindflayer hunter.”
One of the great bonuses of buying a new console is when platform holders add the ability to play classic games, such as having the option to play PS3 games on the PS5.
Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive game, which makes for a wonderful experience filled with unexpected story beats. Unfortunately, this also means there are some bugs that are still kicking about, even after several patches.
Paradox Interactive's upcoming life simulator, Life By You, might be an upcoming challenger to The Sims, but it shares a similar core ethos with that of a very unexpected board game: chess.
i have the setting on that lets you charge in rest mode...but still it won't work....unless i just charge without the hub and plug directly into the console. Is there anyway to fix this without discarding the hub?
Backwards compatibility has been a staple of console gaming for generations.
It's been three weeks since Baldur's Gate 3 added Honour Mode, a new difficulty more punishing than Tactician. Tougher bosses, smarter AI, and most importantly, one save file. Mess up a roll? Face the consequences. Die? Start over. It's gruelling, but pushing through earns you an achievement and some swanky golden dice.
Baldur's Gate 3 has you level up to become more powerful, which is pretty standard when it comes to video games these days. Leveling up gets you more health points and stat bonuses, as well as access to powerful spells you need to defeat tougher enemies. Not leveling up puts you at a massive disadvantage later in the game, but it's one that YouTuber Fracture was happy to burden.
In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, certain Pokemon like Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are available only through Tera Raids. These two event-exclusive Pokemon are returning as 5-Star Raids this December, but what if you already caught them once?
Insomniac Games has confirmed it has a significant PS5 update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in the works, but players will need to wait until early 2024 to download and access its all-new features. The studio shared the news on Twitter having previously stated it wants to get New Game+ out before the end of this year. While a few more months of development are required to get it ready, it'll now be accompanied by a number of new features.
