Raven Software announces big balance changes to popular and what many consider to be overpowered Call of Duty: Warzone weapons like the MTZ Interceptor and WSP Swarm. It's been a tough few weeks for the Call of Duty: Warzone community, as the Season 1 Reloaded update hasn't been particularly smooth. Since the Season 1 Reloaded update, Warzone players have been reporting an infinite loop glitch happening on the main menu, others have seen a frustrating visual bug that can happen after using a supply drop, while there have been concerns about how dark the new Urzikstan's Gulag is.
Weapon balance has constantly been a major talking point for players, as Warzone's available selection of guns continues to grow with each new update. As the game constantly changes and updates through new seasons and various patches, on occasion, certain weapons may find themselves at the top or bottom of a community's list of guns. Since the turn of 2024, the MTZ Inteceptor marksman rifle and WSP Swarm SMG have constantly been regarded as some of the best weapons, with many players even calling on Raven to reduce how effective they can be. After a few teases, Raven has finally addressed both weapons in a new balance update.
In a post on the Call of Duty Update Twitter account, Raven announced what it called a minor update containing balance adjustments to both the MTZ Interceptor Marksman Rifle and WSP Swarm Submachine Gun. These two weapons have been a thorn in most Call of Duty: Warzone player's sides, so a reduction in power should please many fans. In terms of the MTZ Interceptor, the weapon saw its damage numbers reduced across the board, with its max damage lowered considerably from 85 to 74. Mid and Min damage was also lowered significantly, and the Neck Multiplier bonus was reduced from 1.5 to 1 overall. These changes should open the door for other guns to finally compete for the top of the meta.
In addition, the MTZ Inteceptor, the other big weapon getting toned down was the Warzone fan-favorite WSP Swarm. The powerful compact submachine gun received similar nerfs with its damage being reduced across the board. Specifically, the numbers are now:
The balance changes should go a long way to pleasing many in the community who have felt these guns were too strong overall. In addition to this news, Raven Software has also been trying to make up for the Season 1 issues with fans. As a thank you to fans, Raven started issuing out 1 hour 2XP tokens as well as extending the double XP event through January 24.
