Blizzard 'Actively Working' to Let All Overwatch 2 Players Experience a Hero the Day a Season Drops

A former Activision Blizzard executive is suing the company for age discrimination, according to lawsuit filed on Jan. 2. James Reid Venable, a 57-year-old former senior director of business operations, said Activision Blizzard “retaliated and discriminated” against him after he made a discrimination complaint to the company’s human resources department — specifically, Venable believes he was laid off for being old and white.

It’s always nice to think that certain industries are “above harassment” or other things that have weighed down our world. But, sadly, that faith is rarely rewarded. The places and companies that should be the most “sound of mind” sometimes turn out to be the most corrupt or have some of the most hate-filled people around. For example, the video game industry is full of horror stories about the working conditions of certain places and the abuses made by those in power. And that says nothing about gamers themselves. But in the case of Activision Blizzard, they had an issue that was so grand that it resulted in several lawsuits, and those suits keep on coming.

Modders are working to restore this year’s most controversial game, the apocalyptic (in more ways than one) zombie shooter The Day Before. 

The anime shows for fall 2023 are finally concluding. With such a stellar line-up of new series along with fan-loved returning titles, it was an absolute rollercoaster ride. However, with one season drawing towards the end, fans are anticipating a lot more from 2024. Given the series that are waiting for viewers, the excitement of anime fans is immeasurable.

The Day Before, once Steam’s most wishlisted game before experiencing a bizarre journey through multiple delays, accusations of being a scam, apparent legal disputes and a catastrophic Early Access launch, will shut down its servers in one month. The effective end to the game will accompany refunds for anyone who brought it on Steam.

It’s been confirmed that The Day Before’s servers will be shut down on January 22, 2024, as developer Fntastic has now “officially ceased operations.”

Bloober Team, developers of Layers of Fear, The Medium and the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake, have added another notable name to their plans for the next few years. The horror-focused studio is working with the creators of zombie comic book-turned-TV show The Walking Dead on a new video game adaptation.

Blizzard is hinting at a pretty massive change to its monetization model, with executive producer Jared Neuss saying on a recent podcast that the "goal" is to make all new heroes free for everyone at the start of new seasons.
