A bizarre screenshot from The Sims 4 has confused many fans, and also resembles a scene from the supernatural show The Leftovers. Since the first game in the franchise, The Sims is filled with intriguing mysteries, and The Sims 4 is no different.
Released in 2014, The Sims 4 continues to be updated with expansion packs with new maps, cosmetics, and other fun features that improve players' gameplay experience. One of these Sims 4 expansion packs is 2019's Discover University, where players can enroll their Sims into Foxbury Institute, attend different classes, participate in various college activities, and even get the chance to graduate.
A Sims 4 player called walierion shared a bizarre occurrence in their Discover University gameplay, where a bunch of bikes suddenly spawned on Foxbury Institute's grounds. According to their Reddit post, they encountered this bug after moving their camera while their Sim was attending a graduation ceremony.
ManySims 4 fans were equally confused by the sight, while noting that seeing that many empty bikes in Foxbury creeped them out. The Sims 4 screenshots definitely resemble a scene from The Leftovers, a show that takes place after a mysterious event wipes out 140 million people without a trace. It's safe to say that it could also pass as a mass alien abduction incident in The Sims 4, especially since Bella Goth famously disappeared in this manner.
Although walierion saw the empty bikes during their Sim's graduation ceremony, it was not caused because there were several Sims in one area. In 2022, afan posted about the bike spawn bug on EA's forum, noting that the bikes usually spawn at the side of the university after classes despite not having The Sims 4 mods that might trigger it. They also mentioned that the bug doesn't happen often, but when it does, it might cause The Sims 4 to lag. Based on walierion's experience during their Sim's graduation, it's either they didn't download the latest Discover University patch or Maxis hasn't worked on a fix for this bizarre glitch.
On the bright side, the bike spawn bug gave players a creepy scene to add to their list of mysterious occurrences in The Sims universe. Apart from the lagging incidence that some players point out, it's not as game-breaking as other bugs, such as the bug that made Sims irrationally mean in The Sims 4.
