Have you ever wanted to play a golf game where you do pretty much everything except play golf? Such a thing exists, and it's What the Golf?, just announced for PS5 and PS4. The oddball indie will finally swing onto Sony's consoles on 14th March, 2024.
This title has been around for a while, first launching in 2019 for mobile and PC, then on Nintendo Switch in 2020. Now, several years later, it's teeing up a release on PS5 and PS4, including over 300 ridiculous levels.
If you're not sure what this is, What the Golf? is an arcade puzzle game that riffs wildly on the central idea of golf. Instead of simply putting a ball into a hole, you might send your golfer flying instead, or swing the ball across a side-scrolling level, or try to launch donuts onto the flag pole. It's a charmingly bonkers game, and very warmly received by critics and players. If you've played What the Bat? on PSVR2, you'll have some idea of what to expect.

A new Korean age rating for an updated version of Nintendo Switch exclusive Shin Megami Tensei V was posted online overnight before being quickly pulled, suggesting Atlus plans to re-release the JRPG in the future. Named Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the listing mentioned «improvements and additional content» and could be the multi-platform port that was datamined out of the original release a few years ago.
New previews for upcoming RPG Unicorn Overlord have landed, and they're very, very positive overall. For those out of the loop, this is the latest project from 13 Sentinels and Dragon's Crown developer Vanillaware, and once again it's diving into something different, this time trying its hand at Fire Emblem-style, character-driven strategy.
Helldivers 2 has been a bit of a surprise hit for Sony and developer Arrowhead Studios. The game's landed with a genuine bang, pulling a huge number of players across PS5 and PC since its launch last week. The general consensus is that — outside of connection issues — it's a damn good time, especially if you can coax a few friends to join you in blasting overgrown bugs.
PlayStation is quickly establishing itself as the ultimate GachaStation, and that mantra has been reinforced by the worldwide release of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Familia Myth Battle Chronicle on both PS5 and PS4. The manga and anime adaptation – which has been available in Asia for a few months already – is billed as a free-to-play action RPG with 3D graphics.
More great games are coming to the PS5, and that’s never a bad thing. Microsoft announced during a highly massaged corporate message that it’ll bring four first-party titles to rival systems, although it wouldn’t name any names. Fortunately, the rumours have been so strong that we can surmise they’ll be rhythm brawler Hi-Fi Rush, historical adventure Pentiment, nautical outing Sea of Thieves, and survival game Grounded. These fit Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s description of two smaller titles and two live service experiences.
Sony shares plummeted by some 8.4% on Thursday, their sharpest drop in almost two years, following publishing the firm's latest quarterly financial results. The proclamation that PS5 has reached its peak and the prediction that it expects growth to decline gradually from here seems to have spooked some shareholders.
Days Gone developer Bend Studio’s awesome third-person shooter Resistance Retribution is coming to PS5 and PS4 as part of PS Plus Premium from 20th February, 2024. The excellent PSP game, which introduces British protagonist Lieutenant James Grayson and is set in Paris, first launched in 2009 on Sony’s handheld, where it attracted a strong fanbase and garnered cult status.
