On paper, May 2024 may look like a weak month for games. The biggest release of the month is Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, a big Xbox exclusive and follow-up to a 2018 horror action game about a woman suffering from psychosis. But if you enjoy experimental indies, this month may just bring your favorite game of 2024 when all is said and done. We should expect many more 2024 video game release dates as more presentations happen, like the next State of Play, Nintendo Direct, and all the other online streams.

A free retro Nintendo game emulator is now live on the Apple App Store, and because of recent changes made to Apple's app review guidelines, it's actually permitted to be on there. Whether Nintendo will take kindly to it is another matter, given its stance that "supporting emulation also supports the illegal piracy of our products."
The Game Boy Advance was a landmark achievement for Nintendo when it first released in 2001. As the successor to the wildly popular Game Boy Color, it had big shoes to fill, but its release heralded a few major design changes that would inform the future of Nintendo's handheld launches. Its adoption of a landscape presentation that moved buttons and the D-Pad to the side of the screen became stock for the release of the DS, 3DS, and Switch, and its backward compatibility helped push the notion that it was an evolution of a larger family of handhelds that would be worthy investments for years to come.
