Baldur's Gate 3's sixth patch is on the way this week, most likely dropping on Valentine's Day. We say this because Larian has already promised that Patch 6 will add "improved smooches", and what better way to celebrate romance than kissing your favourite fictional character?
Now, Larian has given us a sneak peek at what these updated smooches will look like, revealing the overhauled kissing animation for Shadowheart. And frankly, it's wonderfully ridiculous, in the best way possible. Finally, Shadowheart now has a kiss that befits her dramatic, passionate personality.
Of course, Shadowheart doesn't just go in for a normal kiss. No, instead she circles her partner (very fittingly Lae'zel, in this instance), planting kisses on their shoulders before locking lips. We expect no less from the gods' favourite princess, showering her lucky partner with love and affection.
When Larian announced Patch 6 last week, it also gave us a look at a new kiss for Halsin. It's absolutely adorable - and to be honest, forehead kisses will probably be less of a strain on his back.
With two new kisses shown off now, it's not too much of a stretch to say that every romanceable companion could get a new smooching animation. This could also mean that they mix it up if we ask for repeat kisses, rather than giving us the same animation every single time. How very considerate of them.
But it won't just be about kisses. In a follow-up tweet, Larian shed some more light on the patch, writing, "It’s a hefty one, so we’ll be sharing the full patch notes on the official website - make sure to keep an eye out!" Previously, Larian has made a habit of underselling its patches, so we can expect many more features and fixes to be included this time around.
Right now, it looks like fans are really hoping this adds the long-promised photo mode, which in fairness, could fit in nicely with the Valentine's Day theme, so it's very possible. On the technical side, others are hoping that Larian finally fixes the broken Shield Bash reaction, which isn't working as intended. We'll just have to see what Patch 6 includes when it drops later this week.

Patch 6 brought plenty of appreciable improvements to , but it seems like this particular update may not be going over as smoothly as many of its predecessors. It's not uncommon for game fixes to introduce problems of their own, as even careful meddling with complex code often runs into unintended consequences. For the most part, however, has avoided making things worse with major patches, and an early hotfix that caused crashes for some players made the studio revise its approach to pushing fixes in general in favor of extreme caution.
An Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has created an adorable Villager Amiibo dedicated to their dog. With how many animal types are represented in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, some may already resemble gamers' dogs, but this one is entirely unique.
With Patch 6 now live, there's never been a time to revisit . This is the first major update the game has gotten since 's Patch 5 last November, most infamous for introducing the ultra-hard Honour difficulty mode. But where Patch 5 sought to find cruel and unusual ways to punish players, Patch 6 is all about love — apropos of its just-after-Valentine's release date. Still, that doesn't mean there's nothing in it for those who prefer to spend their nights at camp alone.
