Playing almost any game you want on a screen you can hold in the palm of your hand is now possible between devices like the PlayStation Portal, Steam Deck, and Nintendo Switch. You can also include the Backbone One in the group, a device you can attach to your phone and play mobile games with ease, or stream games from another device or Game Pass. Already available in a handful of different designs, Backbone has teamed up with Kojima Productions to create a special edition Death Stranding controller.
The new Backbone One is the same shape and size as the regular designs, but the front of its handles are a translucent yellow. As pointed out by TechRadar, the combination of gold and translucent makes it look a little like the Backbone is filled with pee. Don't get hung up on that though as the back of the controller, which is what everyone else will see while you're using it, is not the same color as the front.
Backbone has dropped the translucency and gone with a pastel orange for the back, the same color that has been applied to one of the buttons on the front. The rest of the controller is black with a Death Stranding logo printed on the back, right in the middle. The Backbone connects to your mobile device via a USB-C connection, so as long as your mobile has that capability, it should be compatible with the new Death Stranding model.
What might not be compatible with your mobile device is the free copy of Death Stranding that comes with the new Backbone. An iOS port of Death Stranding's Director's Cut launches next week, but only the latest model of iPhone will be capable of running it. You'll still be able to play Death Stranding on your Death Stranding Backbone, you'll just have to stream it via another device. It's not currently on Game Pass though, so you'll need to buy a copy if you don't own it already.
Pretty much the only games you can't play on your Backbone in one way or another are Switch games. The Switch can be played in handheld anyway so that doesn't really matter, I guess. It also has some new controllers of its own coming soon. Nintendo revealed its pastel pink Joy-Con this week, launching alongside Princess Peach Showtime on March 22. Pre-orders for the new Joy-Con have already begun.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will take place on a different continent than the previous game, Hideo Kojima has revealed. The famous video game designer confirmed this detail about his upcoming PlayStation exclusive as part of a recent interview that also saw him disclose some other information about Death Stranding 2.
There were plenty of hints along the way, and even some leaks by the leading man himself, but it was only made official at the Game Awards 2022 that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is on its way.
