A new mod allows up to six players to play and battle side by side in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Co-op is now available in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon thanks to a dedicated modder, who has also worked on other FromSoftware titles like Elden Ring. The new mod focuses on teamwork and co-op gameplay, but also introduces some seriously troubling challenges evocative of past FromSoftware games.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon released to rave reviews last August, pitting players against impossibly-large foes. Armored Core 6 is the latest entry in the long-running franchise, a thrilling, action-packed series that places players inside massive mecha, or an «Armored Core.» The series is known for delivering satisfying gameplay, which can lend itself to being somewhat of a challenge.
According to PCGamesN, modder LukeYui, who previously added co-op play to Elden Ring, has now added co-op to Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. This new mod allows a team of up to six people to play through the entire campaign, and despite being uploaded on April 1, this is no April Fools' Day joke. The mod doesn't just bring new co-op features to Armored Core 6, but also activates invasions by rogue Armored Cores, meaning while multiple players may be playing at one time, gameplay is still quite challenging. The number of enemy Armored Cores varies depending on how many players are connected. Invasions are common when playing online in past FromSoftware games such as Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3, as well as Elden Ring.
Solo players can expect to be invaded by one enemy Armored Core. This number increases to two if players are in a party of two or three, but drops back down to one if there are five players. A full party of six players cannot be invaded. Each additional player also adds a small amount of health and armor to enemies throughout Armored Core 6's campaign. Players worried about using the mod are in luck, with LukeYui stating there is no threat of getting banned due to the mod not using FromSoftware's matchmaking servers.
LukeYui is an experienced modder, with their previous co-op mod for Elden Ring being downloaded a whopping 1.5 million times. Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon became a highlight in the series for many fans, with players praising the game for its excellent visual style, satisfying gameplay loop and challenging enemies, all three of which are commonplace in FromSoftware games. Future DLC may be available for Armored Core 6,but nothing has been confirmed at this time.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is the latest installment in the Armored Core franchise, bringing players high-octane mechanized warfare as they pilot massive machines and battle against one another for mech supremacy. The release is
