Ark: Survival Ascended finally releases on PS5 tomorrow

Upgrading to has its pros and cons. is a revamped version of. It offers a refresh of the classic experience: players must tame dinosaurs, build bases, and make allies or strike down enemies in order to survive.

is a remake/remaster of and built with the all-new Unreal Engine 5, which has enabled the team developing the game, Studio Wildcard, to develop cross-platform play and mods to the title. In addition to the new functionality, the new also has all-new graphics, a sorely needed upgrade from. That said, though the game was touted to have full cross-platform play and cross-progression enabled upon release for the Xbox X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, it's not totally clear whether the feature is currently available during its early access period.

In a move you wouldn't typically expect from a developer, Studio Wildcard has admitted Ark's servers are basically complete «ass».

Ark: Survival Ascended is finally available on Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS5, and Studio Wildcard has updated post-launch plans. In its Extra Life 2023 Recap, it confirmed that Survival of the Fittest would debut on December 20th for all platforms.

Ark: Survival Ascended, the Unreal Engine 5 remaster of Ark: Survival Evolved, had a heck of a launch in early October. With 600,000 copies sold after only two weeks, it looked like it'd quickly march right up the list of the most played games on Steam, where the original dino survival game perched for so many years.

Like many games, went through changes in development that resulted in features being cut from the final product. As a result, the game's early variations throughout development that might've been teased don't match the game that ends up being launched. While some removed features are so minor that their absence isn't felt, other removed features could've made feel like a completely different game.

It’s taken several delays, but Studio Wildcard’s Ark: Survival Ascended is finally out on PS5. The Unreal Engine 5 remake of Ark: Survival Evolved provides a revamped UI and world map, massively improved visuals and physics, better snapping when constructing buildings, cross-platform mods and much more. Studio Wildcard has yoinked PvP crossplay from the PC version of Ark: Survival Ascended, its recently released remaster of Ark: Survival Evolved. The reason is that a whole lot of PC gamers have been put on the naughty list for cheating, with hacks letting them do everything from move like The Flash to blowing away console players through walls.

Studio Wildcard, the developer behind ARK: Survival Ascended, has temporarily disabled PC players from participating in PvP crossplay due to widespread outcry from the community over cheating PC players.

Though has the same core gameplay loop as, there are some differences between the two titles. After all, though it has undergone a series of major updates and expansions since it was launched, is now nearly a decade old, having been released in 2015. The multiplayer dinosaur survival game has remained wildly popular, and updates the game to the much more powerful Unreal Engine 5 while including the expansions for, including,,, and more.

Despite several delays to the Xbox Series X/S version, Studio Wildcard has confirmed that Ark: Survival Ascended will land on November 30th, 9 AM PT for PS5. However, players must wait a few hours for the new servers to go online to ensure everyone has enough time to download the game.
